A Bitter Revelation [OPEN]

Foxkit was getting sick, and everyone knew it. Every day it was getting worse and worse. The medicine cat said he might have greencough, but he doubted it and told her he'll tell her if it gets worse. But he didn't. Coughing was becoming a more than hourly thing for him now, and his chest was tightening day by day. He was on the end of the rope, about to fall.

He was in the middle of a game of mossball when his cough made him take a break. He went into the nursery to take a small rest, hoping to calm his throat. As he entered the nursery, the kit took another quick cough before falling asleep. He was breathing heavily, due to his illness, and not before long he swallowed in a leaf. The leaf was paw-sized and Foxkit began choking. "Why--What is--No--" The small kit was furiously choking now, and rolling around on the wet nursery floor. But soon he decided he was tired of holding on, and he let go of the rope.

Foxkit lay in the nursery motionless, his body left to rot on the cold, damp ground.

As Leafsnap sat in the nursery, pregnant, she saw Foxkit choke. She got up and walked to his side as he choked, trying to coax him by stroking him with her tail, but by the time she walked to him, he fell. "Foxkit?" She asked, eyes wide open as his breathing got rough. "FOXKIT!" She screamed. Though he wasn't her kit, she cared for all the kits because she was going to have some soon. Soon, he was dead and she stood in a state of pure shock and horror, screaming, but not moving.

Mistypaw heard screaming coming from the nursery so she padded over to see what was happening. As she got closer, she could see that Foxkit was lying on the floor. "What's happening?" She asked.

"He's dead!" Leafsnap cried, terror in her eyes.

Mistypaw's eyes grew wide with shock. Suddenly she felt as if the nursery was closing in on her. She had to get out. She ran right out of the nursery until she got to the edge of the camp.

Cedarfur heard his mate's screech and ran to the nursery. "Leafsnap? What's wrong!" he meowed worryingly.

"Foxkit... He's dead." She didn't care if he wasn't her kit, she was scared and shocked. What if our kits die too? She thought, looking to her belly in panic.

Cedarfur could tell Leafsnap was panicking. "Hey, calm down. I...I..." he was lost for words.
