Open Patrol!

Icestorm woke with the sun. Ahhh, I love the chilly morning air. He thought to himself, he looked at his mate Ashwing, who was sound alseep. Icestorm gave a smile of contentment before he got up and wove through sleeping cats. He padded over to the apprentice den wondering if anyone would want to do a moring patrol with him.

Smokepaw was a light sleeper and heard someone out side of the den. He lifted his head up right as his father pocked his head in.

"Morning Smokepaw. Want to come on a morning patrol with me?" he said softly to his son. Like father like sun. He chuckled to himself surprised Smokepaw was an early riser like himself. "Go eat a small rabbit from the kill pile before we go." he pointed his nose towards it. After Smokepaw was awake and headed over to the fresh kill pile Icestorm meowed a bit lowder "Morning patrol, who wants to come?" he said in a somewhat grumpy tone. These days appentices were getting even more lazy.

(Not gonna rp Cedarpaw cause he almost done with training anyway)

Lightfoot pushed the remains of his early morning breakfast to the side and looked at Icestorm. He sounded bothered, but the white tom's tail just flicked in amusement. "I'll go with you two." He said, stretching and swiping a paw over his muzzle to clean it. He needed to stretch his legs, and it had also been a while since he had last spoken with Icestorm.

Icestorm turned around when he heard Lightfoot. "Of course. Anyone is welcome to join." he said calmly.

Smokepaw obeyed his father and went over to the fresh kill pile. He picked the smallest rabbit (not having much of an appetite and walked back over to his father and Lightfoot. He sat down a few lengths away from the warriors, silent as always and waited for the patrol to begin.

ic: Sablefur shook her brown fur as she approached the cats. She was usually wide awake, but this morning had her feeling as groggy and tired as ever. A patrol was what she needed. "Going on the dawn patrol, I see. Mind if I come with? I could really use it."

"Uh, ya sure. The more the better right?" he tried to sound happy. "Well then, I guess the apprentices are too lazy and it's getting late now, we'd better go. Smokepaw!" Icestorm meowed to the cats then his son who was sitting behind them.

Smokepaw could see tell his father didn't like something... but he was just glad to start the patrol. When his Icestorm called for him, he gave a small nod and silently followed the others.

Lightfoot dipped his head in greeting to the deputy. "Good morning, Sablefur." He held her in the highest respect, just like Falconstar. The cool morning air blew through his fur, and he was anxious to start moving so he could generate heat. The day was bleaker than it had been a moon ago. Fluffing up his thin pelt, he turned to Icestorm and said, "Lead on."

Icestorm padded into the clearning, the small group of cats following him.

Cobaltfire came out of the warrior's den to see the patrol about to leave. She was closely followed by Wolftrot, and the two came up to the back of the patrol and called out to Icestorm,
"Do you mind if we join the patrol?"

"Sure! We are headed out right now." Icestorm said to his former mentor. Besides, Smokepaw needs time with his Wolftrot anyway.

Smokepaw saw his mentor and gave a polite nod. I hope we train... He thought silently.

Sablefur nodded welcomingly to Cobaltfire and continued on with the group. She purred at Lightfoot's greeting, whiskers curling with appreciation. "Good morning, Lightfoot." Picking up the pace, she tried to catch up to be audible to Icestorm. "Where are we headed?" she asked.

Icestorm turned his head towards the deputy and slowed his pace a bit. "Well, I recently stumbled upon an area near the north side of our territory that is filled with tons of plump rabbits." he licked his lips. "Also, I was thinking this would be a good time for Smokepaw's old geezer to teach him a few things, even though I know I'm not his true mentor." he chuckled to himself looking back at his son then Wolftrot. Oh, I do wish I get an apprentice soon. He thought to himself.

Smokepaw stepped behind Icestorm to make room for the deputy. He watched them talk for a few moments and purred. Thank you star clan, for a wonderful clan. He thought, looking up at the sky.

The white tom was content to drop to the back of the group and listen to the general buzz, a bit of a bounce in his step as his mind wandered on about his mate and his precious kittens as well as the excellent skills of his apprentice who was hardly a sunrise away from warriorship. Tail curling, Lightfoot slowly realized how great things were lately, even if the seasons of starvation and sickness were slowly crawling slowly towards them. His ears perked at the words "plump rabbits" and he subconsciously ran his tongue over his lips.

Sablefur nodded as Icestorm spoke, but her enthusiasm soon faded away. "The northern part of the territory? Near the barn?" She continued walking, concern plastered on her face. "That's where the rogues hang out. I won't be surprised if they haven't picked up on the scent of rabbit too." She looked away from Icestorm, doubting his decision. The deputy glanced back at their group in thought. Three warriors and apprentice. We'll be all right against one cat, but what if they're all over there?

"Oh yes, the rouges...." Icestorm thought to himself. "I've never gone past the row of brush, that's pretty far up there..." he could see she was concerned. Was it wrong for me to pick this? No....what does she think, we are gonna go all the way to the barn? Does she doubt my abilities as a warrior? He thought to himself looking back at Smokepaw.

Cobaltfire followed in step with the patrol, and Wolftrot padded along beside Smokepaw.
