Eaglepaw's Battle Training (CLOSED for Blockhead)

Sunpelt sat up in the warriors den. It had been a few days since the hunting patrol, and Eaglepaw needed to continue his training. We haven't done battle training yet! he realized with a jolt. The golden-yellow tabby padded out of the den and stretched.

Then he trotted across the clearing to the apprentices den and poked his head inside. He saw his apprentice curled up in his den. "Eaglepaw!" Sunpelt hissed, trying not to make enough noise to wake the other apprentices. He prodded his apprentice in the side with a sheathed paw, and then waited outside the den for him to come out.

Eaglepaw jolted awake at a hiss. He padded out of the apprentice den, his fur a mess. "You didnt have to hiss at me." He purred at his mentor.

Sunpelt snorted in amusement, and gently cuffed his apprentice around the ear with a sheathed paw. "I was trying not to wake the other apprentices!" he protested. "Anyway, I thought you'd be excited to do some battle training today. But before we go out, I want you to fix that fur of yours! You look as though you've had a fight with a bramble bush," Sunpelt teased.

He stepped to the fresh-kill pile and chose a mouse. "When you've finished grooming, you can come over here and share if you want." Sunpelt flicked his tail invitingly at the mouse. I'll have to take a patrol out later to restock the fresh-kill pile, he decided, giving the prey pile a grim look.

Eaglepaw looked at his fur and chuckled. He groomed it like his mother did when he was a kit. He then padded to the mouse and ate half. "You can have the rest." He purred.

Sunpelt purred, and gulped down the rest of the prey. Licking his lips, he turned to Eaglepaw. "Alright, let's go." He led his apprentice to the mossy area of the forest.

"Okay, first we're going to use one of the most basic moves in the battle system: the front paw strike. This is when you slash an unsheathed forepaw at your opponent. Another version of this is the front paw blow, where you have a sheathed paw and slam it on your opponent's head. But that's too easy for you. I'll demonstrate the front paw strike, you repeat it on me, and then we'll do some more advanced moves. Remember to keep your claws sheathed with you do it on me!"

Sunpelt lifted his paw and smashed it gently against Eaglepaw's shoulder.

Sunpelt used Front Paw Strike on Eaglepaw. Half damage.

OOC: Sunpelt actually has 38 HP, not 30.
IC: Sunpelt staggered slightly, and then faced Eaglepaw again. "You have great potential, Eaglepaw. Well done. Okay, now we're going to go to a more advanced move. It's called run and tackle. It might sound easy, but it involves many quick reflexes and stealth skills. Those you will gain in time. I'll demonstrate."

The yellow tabby backed into the bushes on the side of the mossy clearing, and watched his apprentice from the shadows. After a few moments of stillness and quiet breathing, Sunpelt shot out from the bushes and tackled Eaglepaw head-on. He knocked his apprentice to the ground, and gently pushed his muzzle into the ground.

He quickly let Eaglepaw back up, and stood in front of him.

Sunpelt used Run-and-Tackle on Eaglepaw. Half damage.
