Battle Training, And Hunting With Sunpaw [Closed Training]

Jayflight peared in through the apprentices den "Wake up Sunpaw, were going to start training" he mewed, turning towards the entrance "I'll wait for you to be ready" he mewed heading off towards the entrance, waiting for his apprentice.

Sunpaw opened his eyes and blinked at his mentor. Right, I'm an apprentice now! he realised. "I'm ready," he mewed, padding towards Jayflight.
"Jayflight, do you think I'll be a good apprentice?" he asked, a little worried.

Jayflight purred "Of course I do" he mewed, beginning to walk "Oh yes, this is by choice, what do you want to start with first?" he asked.

Sunkit was feeling reassured after hearing his mentor say this. "I'd like to do hunting first, I think."

Jayflight purred "Alright, Sunny" he mewed with amusement "Do you know how to crouch down?" he asked.

"What do you mean by that exactly? Just regular crouching, or is there a special hunting crouch?" Sunkit asked, before doing what he called 'regular crouching'.

Jayflight nodded "Correct, their is a hunting crouch" he mewed "Bend down regularly but turn it kind of into a stalking pose, you want to have the prey to not be able to scent you" he mewed.

Sunpaw followed his mentor's instructions, feeling a little bit awkward in this unfamiliar position. "Is this it?"

Jayflight nodded, picturing his golden apprentice in a great crouch, he touched his nose and ran it against his apprentices body, so he could actually tell "Perfect" he mewed "Now, pretend that a leaf nearby is your prey" he instructed.

Sunpaw focused on the leaf, imagining it was a mouse. Obviously, he had be quiet, or it would scamper off. Maybe one fast leap would be how to do it. He pounced at the leaf, trapping it under his paws, before stumbling and falling over.

Jayflight laughed "You caught the prey still, it still counts. Do you want to try again?" he asked, trying not to let a purr of amusement escape his throat.

Sunpaw looked a bit sheepish as he nodded his head. "What do I try and catch now?"

Jayflight scented around the area "Well, I know there is a thrush nearby, but that is probably a little hard for you to catch" he stated, scenting again "There's a mouse around if you want to catch that" he suggested.

He couldn't help but tingle with excitement. He could smell the mouse now too - this would be his first prey! He quietly went into the hunting crouched and tiptoed towards the scent. Suddenly he pounced on the mouse. Like the leaf, he had it trapped under his paws, and killed it, before promptly falling over again. He picked up the mouse in his jaws. "I caught it!" he proclaimed proudly, "but I might need to keep working on my balance."

Jayflight nodded "Yeah, but you did a good job, try keeping your hind legs flat on the ground and don't lead forward to much" he told him "Do you want to keep hunting?" he asked.
