First Time out of the Nursery

A small black kit peered out of the nursery, twitching his whiskers at the sight of everything sitting before him in camp. He cautiously stuck out a paw, and placed it on the hard surface. Seeing that everything was okay, he stepped forward onto a patch of grass. It felt cool beneath his tiny paw. He moved his hind paws, leaping off of the grass. Ghostkit squealed as he ran into something solid. Stepping back a pace or two, he looked up and saw that he had run into a tree stump. The tom laughed and trotted up to a large rock in the middle of camp. It was where the leader stood when she called meetings. "Maybe I could climb it....." He placed a paw on the surface, leaping onto the stone. It was slippery, but he made his way up it. When he got to the top, he scrambled off and went to a cave that had lichen hanging in front. He peeked inside, slipping in.

The handsome white experienced warrior rested on a stone. He closed his eyes and allowed the wonderful breeze push his fur back. This is a good day, he thought. I should hunt later on. When he opened his eyes, something caught them. He turned his head and saw a kit slipping into the cave. Kits! A purr of amusement filled his throat before he set off after the kit. Gracefully, he leaped on top of the Highrock and trotted in the cave. Quickly, he went in front of the kit to block it before he looked down at it. "What are you doing here?"

Ghostkit squealed and tumbled backwards before regaining his composure and sophistication. Puffing his chest out, he let his tail-tip twitch back and forth. It was all a feeble attempt to cover his fear of the big cat. "I was exploring." he mewed, willing his voice to stay strong and mentally kicked himself when it wavered.

Eaglewing purred in amusement as he watched the kit. "You shouldn't be in here," he replied and blinked his eyes. "You'll be an apprentice soon and your mentor will allow you to explore the ThunderClan territory with him/her." He could sense the kit's fear. "Don't be afraid of me, I'm your clan-mate. I won't hurt you, my job is to protect my clan."

Ghostkit relaxed, purring softly. "Okay, thanks.." He brightened up. "Hey, who will be my mentor? Where will I go? What will we do? It sounds so fun being an apprentice!" the kit squeaked.

Eaglewing's mood brightened when he heard the questions from the kit. He's so curious, the white warrior thought. "Let's talk about this in the clearing by the nursery. I will answer your questions there. Come on," the tom said and walked to the mouth of the cave where he waited for the kit.

Ghostkit trotted after Eaglewing and smiled. "Okay." he mewed.

Eaglewing walked in the clearing and headed towards the nursery den. He sat by the mouth of the den, but he didn't block the entrance. He waited for the kit to find a spot to make himself comfortable. Warmth glowed in his eyes as he stared at it.

Ghostkit sensed someone watching him nearby and turned. (hint hint, Rainstrike :3)

Rainpaw padded up to them. "Hey!" She smiled cheerfully.

Ghostkit squeaked as an apprentice padded up to him. "Hello!" he mewed, puffing out his chest. "Eaglewing's telling me about apprentice stuff. Wanna join our talk?" he asked, somewhat proudly. A purr rumbled deep in his throat, and any sign of shyness was completely gone. The only proof was the memory.

"Sure!" The tortoiseshell smiled the kit, who she assumed was Ghostkit.

(Oops, I mean smiled AT the kit.)

Eaglewing sat up comfortably before looking down at the young cats and purring in delight. "Now, where do I start? Oh, yes. I haven't forgot about the questions you asked, Ghostkit. The leaders decide on who's going to be your mentor. After the apprentice ceremony, your mentor might show you around and show you how to do apprentice duties. Make sure you follow your mentor's directions, or you may find yourself searching for an elder's ticks. Besides that, your mentor trains you to be a warrior when it's time. You will also attend patrols and gatherings." He had spoken in a warm voice. His handomse gaze had never left the kits.
