It had worked! She had killed the other vole silently, and dragged them both to her other prey. Sitting down, her eyes showed silent pride on how well she had done.

Reedstar tracked Silverpaw as silently as he could, freezing in momentary panic when she glanced his way once or twice, but otherwise remaining concealed. She wasn't the best hunter, clearly, but she had shown her worth. The leader emerged from the tall grass as the apprentice made the quota with a purr. "Well done." he mewed. "Come on, I'll help you carry that. Feel free to take your pick from the freshkill pile when we get back to camp."
