"Would you like to try and catch some?" Sagestar turned his head slightly to look at Nightpaw out of the corner of his eye, a slight smile on his face. "It'd be good practice for the both of you."

"Sure!" exclaimed Cedarpaw, forgetting the whole tail thing and swishing it across the grass behind him. He had anticipated this moment for moons.

Nightpaw brightened and walked a bit farther away from Cedarpaw and
fixed her eyes on Sagestar's paws. She crouched, her tail out like a
twig, and her belly as close to the ground as possible. When she started
to move forward her paws where a bit heavy, but she didn't notice. "How
it this?" She asked hoping the leader will be impressed with her skill.She wanted to get the crouch down before actually hunting.She Shifted and her eyes unwavering on The leaders paws, like a predator watching its prey.

Sagestar nodded, at first impressed by their enthusiasm, but then quickly irritated by how quickly Cedarpaw had forgotten his word. "Watch your tail." He spat at once, "Are you trying to scare the prey away?" His green eyes flickered to Nightpaw, taking a moment to observe her stance.
"Spread your legs and even yourself out." The leader advised, "You're too hard on your feet - If you go on like that you'll either trample over the grass or sink in the mud." Though, it wasn't bad, for her instincts. It'd certainly give her a hard time, though.
"Cedarpaw, I want to see your stance too before you start." He meowed, and added on to help them. "One thing for you both to keep in mind, a rat will smell you before anything else. Keep your mouth open and catch the breeze. You have to be either downwind of the prey or be sure that the scent of the marsh is strong enough to cover your scent. Understand?" He sat down and looked expectantly at the two of them.

Nightpaw nodded and Changed her stance. She kept her mouth open to tase the ait. She realized she was up wind of Sagestar. The apprentice turned down wind and crouched ready to be assessed again.

Sagestar looked at Nightpaw once again. It wasn't perfect, but her stance was much better this time around. "Try to stay silent, Nightpaw." He meowed and flicked his tail, telling her she could go and try to catch something now.

Nightpaw nodded and bounded off, but staying in the area.She soon found a
frog sitting in the bushes. She watched it,Then crouched,The she-cat
slowly stalked the creature She tensed her body and sprang.She landed squarely on the Frog and bit down on to it's skull.I got it? She thought at first." I got it!" she cried aloud. Nightpaw carried her catch to her leader and held it up proud, and excited.

Cedarpaw, while Nightpaw was being trained, crouched as the leader taught, trying all he could to look calm and well mannered. His green eyes studied the ground ahead. He was waiting for his go ahead.

"Well done, Nightpaw." The leader purred, proud of his new apprentice. Her first catch~. "Bury it in the mud and we can get it on the way back." He flicked his gaze over to his other new pupil. "Now you try, Cedarpaw."

Cedarpaw mimicked Nightpaw, opening his mouth even, though wondering what that had to do with sight. The prey, though, was a small rat in front of him. It scurried from under a pile of Twoleg waste, it's red eye turning away from the cats not ten tail-lengths away. In it's dirty paws were some crowfood by the looks of it. Too occupied by the food, it couldn't possibly sense him! Tightening his haunches, the apprentice leapt. It had sensed him, and started it's run, but it was too late. Cedarpaw's claws ripped at it's hind, drawing the rat closer to him, and he snapped it's neck. "Ew. It's disgusting." stated the apprentice with a joking smile, holding the prey in his mouth.

Nightpaw smiled as her apprentice partner caught his prey."Good job!" She congratulated him. Nightpaw turned her attention to the ground, where she dug deep in to the mud and dropped her prey. Then she cover it up with a swift sweep and pat of her paw.

"Your's was better." answered Cedarpaw, placind down his prey, licking a paw and drawing it over his ear. "Mine was a whisker's length from freedom."

Nightpaw rolled her eyes. "you still caught it didn't you?" Her tail flickered excitedly.
