Demonpaw's assessment

Shadowsong padded over to the apprentice's den. "Demonpaw! It's time for your assessment!"

Demonpaw padded out towards Shadowsong slowly. "Yes Shadowsong.."

She smiled at the apprenctice. "Come on, cheer up a little bit. You're almost a warrior!" She mewed before making her way into the territory. "Okay, remember that for your assessment, you are to catch as much prey as you can, and I'll be watching you to see how well you do."

"Yes, I know." Demonpaw replied. She followed behind her, "Where are the grounds at that we are going to be?"

"Um.." She had totally forgotten about that. "You can hunt around Highpines. That should be good. Good luck!"

Demonpaw sighed and ran slightly towards Highpines. As soon as the trees came into view, Demonpaw stopped and opened up her senses, trying to pick up even the slightest trace of prey.

Shadowsong gave Demonpaw some distance after she had turned to leave before very quietly following her and hiding downwind.

After a few moments of silently waiting for some movement, Demonpaw caught sight of a frogs leg underneath some wet leaves. She got in position and pounced for it, her claw just catching its leg. She quickly killed it and buried it to get later.

Great catch! Shadowsong thought, for she didn't want to give out her location. She then waited for the apprentice to continue.

Not smalling or seeing any more prey, Demonpaw desided to walk a little away from the trees. It was when she got into a shaded part that she smelled mouse. How strange.. she though to herself as she got in position. Pouncing, she killed the mouse with her paw. What she didnt see was that under the leaf she caught the first one in was 2 more, and those got away.

She watched the fleeing mice as Demonpaw pounced and sighed silently at the loss of opportunity. She then focused back on the apprentice to see she had caught something, and Shadowsong nodded slightly in approval, making sure she made no noise.

Demonpaw growled in irritation, but padded back to bury the mouse with the frog. Turning, Demonpaw tensed as the air brought a new scent towards her. Lizard.. she thought, and was confirmed when she caught sight of it sitting on a rock. Aggrivated by her earlier fail, Demonpaw was able to quickly pounce on the lazard and kill it before it could dash off.

Good job! Shadowsong thought again as she carefully followed Demonpaw.

OOC: Ok, time for a twist

Demonpaws head shot up when she scented something she only smelled in her nightmares. "Rat.." she whispered softly. Already Demonpaw could see its glowing eyes from a bush in front of her.

It took a few moments to figure out what Demonpaw was looking at, but then she realized what it was after it's stench hit her. She glared at where the source of the smell was coming from and her muscles tensed, but she waited to see what was going to happen.
