I’m the only one of me
As much as Addercrest loved spending time in camp, but there was only so much of the same cats she could take. She needed some fresh air, some time in the forest. Something that was just for her. No fake smiles, no sweet voice.
No games.
It just got so tiring, keeping up appearances, like she was some sort of poster child. The innocent victim of Sweetheart.
As much as she loved the attention, sometimes it did make her want to dive head-first into the thorn barrier. She had never been weak. She had never wanted to be seen as weak. And yet, the more time that passed, the more she thought that was exactly how cats saw her. They felt the need to protect her.
Maybe it made her angrier than she thought. She could fight off Sweetheart all on her own. She shouldn't have to maintain this perfect image. She was starting to question why she even did.
At the snap of a twig, Addercrest whipped her head around, narrowing her eyes towards the sound. She hadn't even realized how close she had gotten to the border, but now that she was here, she wasn't about to run.
Maybe if she could fend off a patrol, the rest of the Clan would start seeing her as a capable cat again.

Hollypaw had been gathering herbs near the Fallen Oak when he heard the ThunderClan cat call out. Reluctantly stepping onto the Oak, he nodded at her. ”I’m Hollypaw, SkyClan’s medicine cat,” he said. He wasn’t trespassing — though he had thought of jumping over the Oak to pick some herbs from ThunderClan’s side — so she had no reason to attack, but it might be good to clarify his position anyways. ”And what is your name?”

Forcing her fur to lie flat, she regarded Hollypaw. So, he was a medicine cat...
She guessed she wouldn't be fending off a SkyClan patrol after all.
"Addercrest, ThunderClan warrior. I'd say you were pretty close to the border there, but I guess it doesn't matter, with your rank and all." Now that she was really looking for the scent, she could definitely pick up on the smell of herbs on his fur, and she gave her chest a couple of embarrassed licks.
Looking back up at Hollypaw, she couldn't help but mutter under her breath. "Tiny cat. Thought SkyClan was big." It could be that a lot of cats just looked small compared to her. Still, she had thought their neighboring Clan could at the very least come close to matching her.
Speaking once again in her own language, she gave a smile. "What herbs are you looking for? Maybe Sleepycloud has some to lend. With leaf bare so close, we've got to help each other out, after all!"

Addercrest of ThunderClan, huh? Hollypaw was sure to remember that name.
She seemed... on edge, at first, but she seemed to be calming down after he mentioned he was a medicine cat. After she muttered something under her breath - Hollypaw strained so hard to hear it, but he couldn't understand a word - he sat back politely. "Well, mostly oak leaves," he said, glancing at the Fallen Oak. "They're very helpful for preventing infection."
Addercrest's niceness... made Hollypaw's heart skip a beat. "I believe what I've gathered is sufficient for us," he said, "but I think talking with ThunderClan about surpluses we could share would be... nice." The ginger tom smiled awkwardly at her. Could he say something else to break the ice? "You're pretty."
