SILVERHAWK
The darker the weather...
Was Rowanheart mad--insane? He must have been. Their new deputy should have had a better head on his shoulders than this. There was no good excuse to assign himself to a patrol with only Silverhawk as company. Was he still so good at masking his feelings, even though he’d all but given up? Believing there was a unique talent for that was the only thing that kept Silverhawk from thinking the deputy was a true idiot. But still: he thought his hatred was palpable, so thick as to be tasted on the tongue with every breath. At some point while they walked together, Silverhawk had bitten his tongue so hard he tasted blood. It lead him to imagining what Rowanheart’s would taste like in his mouth, and that then lead to images flashing through his mind of the pair of them rolling through the dirt until Silverhawk came out on top and bent down with his jaws aiming for the sensitive, exposed throat--
A breath puffed out of his nose. Silverhawk swallowed back the spit and blood that sat in his mouth and turned his attention toward Rowanheart. He hated him. Hated, hated, hated him. Rowanheart was nothing but a lesser version of him, his slightly younger mirror. As gregarious as Silverhawk had grown to be, but surely lacking in wit. Guileless idiot. What had he done to earn this position? What had he done that Silverhawk hadn’t? He’d garnered respect once, too. What had become of him?
Another huff; another bitter swallow. His green eyes narrowed sharply before he threw his head and looked away again. ”You’re settling into your position well,” Silverhawk said. There was no effort made to keep the sourness out of his voice.

Rowanheart
ShadowClan | T1 Deputy | he/him
Rowanheart was no fool. He could see the tension in Silverhawk's muscles, the bite of venom in his voice. Jealousy was practically turning the tom's pelt green. Yes, Rowanheart was no fool. That was precisely why he had opted to take a patrol with Silverhawk. He wanted to try and alleviate some of the pressure if possible, get Silverhawk on his good side. He was young still, while Silverhawk was older, more experienced. Perhaps they could learn a thing or two from each other. Rowanheart held his tongue for most of the patrol, waiting to see if the other would say something first. When Silverhawk finally spoke, he flicked an ear idly and glanced over at the gray warrior.
"I do hope so," he replied, keeping his tone carefully light. "I do not yet know why Leopardstar decided on me, but I do know that I would--and will--give my all to ShadowClan. Actually, Silverhawk, I wanted to discuss something with you." Rowanheart's yellow eyes flashed. "Can I trust you to not share this with other warriors?" In truth, Rowanheart didn't particularly care who knew, he was asking many of the warriors the same question. It was partially a test to see who he could trust and who he couldn't. He breezed on, his tail waving. "As I'm sure you know, I am relatively inexperienced as a warrior and most certainly as a deputy. So I am asking for your opinion: do you have any questions or concerns for me? It can be anything, even things we as a Clan can work on collectively. I am interested in hearing all of it." That much was true, at least. He was genuinely interested in hearing the opinions of his Clanmates. His whiskers twitched; hopefully Silverhawk would use his words and not his claws.
why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room?; why do you always say what you believe?;
