He isn't surprised to find himself walking the same path with Cloudjumper down to the familiar clearing that they had sparred at so many times before. It was as if the moons had not passed, that he had not left at all. He finds comfort in the assurance that some things could be left untouched by time. Change, he found, could be scary.
Golden eyes watched calico pelt ripple as his companion crossed a small ditch, gaze trailing the same familiar lines, the soft contours that hid hardened muscles. The was familiarity in the way she moved, safety in the gait that they all carried, taught by generations after generations of warriors that crossed these exact same lands. He moved a little faster, catching up to his heartbeat as he slipped through the golden grass to be by her side. The sun was setting; golden light was strewn across the moor, painting her coat a soft cream. Everything about her was golden... he wanted to press his muzzle into her fur and breathe in deep. Home, that was what she smelled like. He knew that the expression on his face was anything but what she was used to. Did the changes in him scare her in the same way it scared him? He couldn't take his eyes off her, as if for fear that she too might disappear if he looked away for too long. Gone, like everyone else had. Like everything else would. Any maybe he just liked looking at her too.
"...You look beautiful in the sunset," He whispered. He had missed her more than he had expected.

Cloudjumper felt more at ease than she had in... A while, honestly. The tension brought on by so many clanmates going missing had been tempered by her grandmother's return, as well as the return of the tom she trotted alongside now. Her patrols with Leopardwind had become a familiar thing, and she hadn't realized just how much she'd missed them until he was no longer there. How much she'd missed Leopardwind, too. Things had felt just ever so slightly off, out of place, with his absence. Now he was back home in Windclan where he belonged, trotting alongside her and things felt right.
His voice broke the quiet air, and Cloudjumper turned, green eyes catching sight of the dark tom silhouetted by the golden rays of evening sunlight. The fires of something - embarrassment? Affection? She couldn't tell - seemed to spread through her pelt.
"I missed you, Leopardwind." The words came unbidden. "I... Worried about you, you know that? I feared you might not come back and-" Her voice cracked slightly, and the lithe calico gave herself a shake. "Don't make me worry like that." She huffed out awkwardly, "I'm just glad you're home."

"I'm sorry for not telling you where I was going." He had told Laurelriver, but not Cloudjumper. The journey without either made him regret that choice just a little. "I missed you too." He felt the need to express as much as he could about his feelings, to make sure Cloudjumper knew what he was thinking. After all, she could just as easily disappear tomorrow, just as all their clanmates had, and how would he forgive himself if he didn't make the most of the time he did have with her?
Gently, he pressed his nose to her shoulder, blinking up at her with apologetic eyes. "I'm home now," He whispered, as if to assure her, but to him, it felt more like a promise. He wasn't ever planning on leaving again. Not as long as she was here. "Should we have a spar, just like we used to?" He had been away for a while, and he wanted to know if he had improved or grown rusty. And he wanted to see how time had treated her. Had she gotten better since the last they met? He wanted to feel her claws on his throat and her voice in his ears.

"It hurts but... We can't exactly control everything. Just don't do that again." Cloudjumper mewed, tail curling over Leopardwind's back. She added with a purr of her own, "Forgiven. This time." Though there wasn't much to forgive, really. And with Leopardwind looking at her like that... It made emotion stir in her chest that she hadn't expected.
A spar like old times? "I'm sure you could use the practice, being away as long as you were and all." Her tone was light, teasing. The paw Cloudjumper brought up to jab playfully at his shoulder quick.
Cloudjumper used Claw for -5 ep, dealing -12 damage.
