The Hand That Feeds [c]

Blazekit knew that not all cats of WindClan was as dedicated as they should be. There was of course his father, who was the best warrior around; Tigerstar and Rapidfire, both of whom were great warriors; Leopardwind was also a strong and capable warrior. But he had seen some cats that were not as much—and apprentices, such as the one that was lazing about in camp right now.

His expression twisted into a scowl and he approached the slumbering Ryepaw. His big paws pressed into the ground in what sounded like intimidating, thunderous steps to his own ears but likely would not be to anyone that knew his age. He stopped right in front of Ryepaw’s nose. Blazekit was very big for his age, but he knew that Ryepaw was a little bigger anyway. It made Blazekit’s whiskers twitch.

“Have you even done your job for today?” Blazekit demanded, his voice loud to wake the slumbering apprentice. “Naps during the day are reserved for kits, queens, and elders. What have you done to earn this time of laziness?”

Ryepaw snorted when he inhaled, and his nose whistled when he exhaled. He licked his lips, rolling over just an inch to scratch his chest with a paw. "Mm.. Huzzat... Yeah, I'll do it in a bit... Mhm..." His tongue lolled out of his mouth as he snored yet again, until the little kit spoke a second time. His shoulders jerked, and he cracked open one sleep-dark eye.

"Mmph... Y'alright, kid?" He murmured, rolling back onto his stomach and perching on his paws, saving one to wipe the little dribble of drool rolling off of his lips. "Did ye' say somethin' about jobs, or did Evenin'moon just walk by? Had a big lunch. Didn' think I was goin' out again til' later on. Or are ye' hungry or bored or somethin'? Can throw a... a-.." His jaws parted in a wide yawn, lips settling back together unevenly with one snaggletooth poking out. "Sorry. Can throw a mossball fer ye' if ye' really want."

Blazekit’s nose wrinkled into a mild snarl. To have such a lazy cat about—why has Tigerstar or Rapidfire not done anything? Or even Ryepaw’s former mentor, whoever that was. It was a disgusting display from someone who supposedly should have been ready to give his life for the clan.

“You’re a disgrace to WindClan. You cannot even listen, your head is so stuffed full of sleep,” Blazekit huffed. “You had best be sick with the way you’re acting, otherwise you are doing nothing more than leeching off of this clan!”
