OATFLUFF
Are you going to age with grace?
The scent of flowers hung heavy in the air as Oatfluff led his apprentices to the fields. The trio didn't seem to be in much of a hurry, and in truth they weren't; it was a lovely day, after all, and the tom was quickly learning better than to rush Moonpaw anywhere. It didn't matter to him. A happy apprentice was more receptive to learning, and that meant Oatfluff could take his time on the journey over, anyway. Even though the greenleaf heat had begun to wilt the flowers, the fields still blossomed, determined as ever, in shades of red, yellow, blue, and green. It was beautiful. Oatfluff loved it out here, and he usually found his paws carrying him in the direction of the flower fields any time he left camp.
The mottled brown tom stopped as they neared the rolling hills. For once, the heat was not so oppressive; if he stopped and tasted the air, he could almost pick up the slightest hint of leaffall on the wind. A gentle breeze ruffled his fluffy pelt, and a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips. Things seemed peaceful, and he was glad.
"Alright, guys," Oatfluff began, turning to regard the apprentices just behind him. "Now, Moonpaw, I'm sure you've been here before, but Rainpaw, these fields are home to plenty of rabbits - so many that it would make your head spin. That said, do you know why I brought you both out here today?"He asked, head tilted a bit to the side as his eyes danced with excitement. He was sure they could guess. They were smart cats.
After a beat, he answered his own question with a nod. "Today, we're working on hunting. Now, Moonpaw, did Snowvixen work with you much on hunting?" Either way, they would take it slow, since Rainpaw had never hunted before. Besides, he had a plan for today - there was a reason he'd roused them both for this training session. "Specifically, we're going to work on hunting as a team. Teamwork is a vital part of being a Clan cat, and it's something my mentor never really spent much time on, but I wish she had." Oatfluff looked between the two mollies as though to make sure he still had their attention. They were both pretty quiet; he wondered if they might be friends, the more time they spent together.

Moonpaw"I've learned love is like a brick, you can build a house or sink a dead body with it" -Apprentice-

Oatfluff, Moonpaw's new mentor, was like Nectarflower in a lot of ways. For one, she didn't think she'd seen either of them angry, annoyed, or even upset at another cat. They both also enjoyed the flower fields a lot but, she didn't think anyone liked the vibrant landscape more than her mother did. Maybe, just maybe, Oatfluff could be second. Moonpaw didn't mind the soft petals, colorful views, and comfy nappy spots, but she wasn't the biggest fan of all of the pollen or the sunlight the blossoms seemed to enjoy so much. She much preferred the fields glowing under the silver light of the moon. It was cooler, even more beautiful and, even better, quiet.
Though, nothing quite compared to the easy simplicity of sitting in the camp all day like Snowvixen used to let her do. Oh, how she missed her old mentor. Or, rather, how she missed having a mentor who didn't hardly pester her with training. Perhaps that was why she was still an apprentice whereas Cloudjumper had become a warrior moons ago. Not that she really minded falling behind, though. Being a warrior just seemed like so much work that she, quite honestly, didn't see herself enjoying. Take Oatfluff, for example. The poor tom was out on patrols and training multiple apprentices all at once. Great StarClan, she wouldn't even know what to do with one.
Suddenly, Oatfluff's voice permeated her mind, scattering her thoughts like a cloud of flies and shocking her back to the present. Right, she was actually expected to do work today. He was looking at them silently, as if expecting one of them to say something, but before she could get a word out, he continued, finally revealing the purpose of this rather unnecessary walk to the flower fields. Hunting. There were plenty of closer places to hunt, but whatever. "eh." She shrugged noncommittally in response to his question.
"i can hunt fine." Snowvixen hadn't really shown her how, but she'd figured it out on her own eventually. Though, Oatfluff didn't need to know that. Nor did Rainpaw. She didn't spare a glance toward the younger apprentice as Oatfluff continued and let her gaze wander, her attention officially lost. Teamwork hunting. Great. She'd done plenty of that before, Especially with Laurelriver, so it wasn't anything terribly exciting. Nothing worth getting worked up over anyway. "sounds good. we startin' now? or does rainy needa crash course?"
