| The morning air carried a slight chill. Even in the greenleaf days, the nights could still fall chilled and comfortable. Today was no exception. The dawn greeted him over the sheaths of wheat and grasses in the distance as he prepared himself for the morning’s task. A hunting session with his new apprentice and his older one.
Mistypaw was experienced. Soon she’d become a warrior, but young Baypaw was only just starting. It made sense in a way, to train them together as he padded forward and gathered both of his apprentices.
“Come along, both of you. The sun waits for no cat, and neither do the rabbits.” Grouse ordered as he took the lead in guiding them through the grass. Pausing to look back to ensure the pale tabby and silver tabby she-cat didn’t get seperated.

| Baypaw's eyes shone bright with excitement. Finally, my first lesson! He followed his mentor and the more experienced apprentice, Mistypaw out of the camp borders. The beige tabby felt the morning dew on the grass. His tail twitched back and forth on the ground as he tried to hide his joy. Baypaw stared ahead, feeling stunned. The apprentice had heard about the rugged moors that was WindClan's territory, but he had never expected them to be so harsh. Snap out of it Baypaw! He shook his head, his cream colored fur flopping around before asking his mentor. "Are we going hunting?"

| Mistypaw followed closely behind Grousefrost, her longer legs enabling her to keep up better than she had as a young apprentice. At Baypaw's question, she turned back and smiled. "Guess you'll have to wait and see!" She squealed. She fell back a few paces, walking next to the younger apprentice. Lowering her head to whisper in his ear, she smirked some. "Don't worry about Grousefrost's attitude. He's a pretty boring mentor. I am still trying to train him, but it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks." She giggled a little before standing straight, giving her mentor a playful smile. ______________________________________ Grayleaf Mistystripe Cedarkit ThunderClan WindClan RiverClan Tier 2 Warrior Medicine Cat Apprentice Unborn Kit Signature Art by the wonderful Kade/Jade |

| The pale and silver tom turned his head at Baypaw’s question. Then looked back out over the moors. They were heading towards the fallen log, but veered off shortly before as he ignored the conversation going on behind him. Eventually, stopping on the roof of a tunnel. The ground spreading out before them in a sheet of golden hay.
In the distance, little brown shapes moved. Rabbits. A small group of them. He frowned, some of them were quite small. “Alright, what do you see down there?” He asked calmly. Waiting a moment for their answers. “They look like tempting targets, but you shouldn’t kill them. Their young will feed us when leafbare comes.” He explained calmly as he turned and flicked his tail, leaving the doe rabbits to graze as he lead the apprentices to a couple large rabbits separated from the group.
“These will do. Baypaw, we are downwind of them, which gives us an advantage. I want you to run onto to the left side of the left one. Mistypaw, you will run onto the right side of the right one. With luck, you two will meet in the middle and be able to intercept the rabbits before they manage to pass you. I’ll come up the middle and keep them running.”
He gestured with his head sharply. “Now go.” ______________________________________ Kestrelpaw ♀ Marshkit ♂

| Baypaw got into a 'crouch', ready to spring into a run. The cream colored apprentice sprung into action and started to go for the rabbit. Even though he was fast as a kit, he wasn't going as fast as he thought he would as Baypaw was running in entirely new terrain. And even though the violent hills slowed the young apprentice down, his fierce determination kicked in which was, the only thing that kept the light apprentice going. As uncertainty started to fall over Baypaw, he thought as 'loud' as he could think. I can do this. I can do this. What the cream colored tabby hadn't realized was that he was almost to the rabbit. Whoa! Baypaw knew that he would probably get into trouble if he started talking, and even though it's only a possibility, he did not want to risk it. Rabbits look bigger in real life. The light colored apprentice tried to control his wild thoughts; and tried to focus on only one. Baypaw started to bound on his legs as he approached the prey to get a good boost. The apprentice tried to stay as calm as possible, but like earlier his excitement started to break out. He smiled, twitched his tail, and did a few other small things to show his joy without chasing away the rabbits.

| Mistypaw nodded to her mentor, quickly taking up her position. She kept low in the tall grass, circling to the right side of the rabbits. What she didn't realize was that Baypaw was already rushing forward. What is he doing? He is going to scare them off! Is this the first time Grousefrost is training this kit?! Mistypaw grumbled under her breath before she, too, raced forward. She was not going to let her mentor's plan fail. And atleast this way, Baypaw wouldn't be in trouble on his own. Although his little hops wouldn't help him out any. ______________________________________ Grayleaf Mistystripe Cedarkit ThunderClan WindClan RiverClan Tier 2 Warrior Medicine Cat Apprentice Unborn Kit Signature Art by the wonderful Kade/Jade |

| Baypaw stopped abruptly as he turned his head and saw that Mistypaw was behind. I'm so close to the rabbit, why don't I just move forward? He was asking himself. The reckless tabby tried to move over to the left of the rabbit, but his legs wouldn't budge. Baypaw felt like something he was doing was wrong, which was a very rare feeling for him. Instead of forcing himself to move, the cream colored apprentice crouched down and stared at Grousefrost and Mistypaw, waiting for one of them to realize that he was confused and to tell him what to do next. Grousefrost watched as his apprentices follow his orders in complete silence. Until Baypaw seemed to freeze. He blinked, looking carefully at the rabbit who hadn’t bolted yet and crawling carefully on his belly towards the apprentice. He nudged the small tom’s shoulder with his tail, then gestured sharply with his head.
“Go!” He hissed softly, but the noise was enough to bring the rabbit’s head up. Grouse lowered flat to the ground as he waited for Baypaw to spring. His muscles tense as he knew that now, he’d have to make up tail lengths of ground in seconds to be in his position. The only way to do that now was at a full length sprint. ______________________________________ Kestrelpaw ♀ Marshkit ♂ |

| Mistypaw began to race forward. With the rabbit's attention behind it, it didn't think to look at the side of it. With the long strides her mentor had taught her to use, she chased the rabbits down, focusing on the one on the right. Her rabbit. She was going to get this if it was the last thing the she-cat did. She was on top of the rabbit in mere moments, clamping her jaws down on it's neck, but she wasn't done yet. Instead of a simple nip to end it's life, Mistypaw decided to have some fun, thrashing the rabbit around and snapping it's neck to finally finish it off. It was a bit gruesome, but it was fun, for the moment at least. And it was a one time thing Mistypaw had planned. She was not that cruel.

| Baypaw rolled his eyes when he didn't get a response. He looked out behind the grass to see that Mistypaw already had the rabbit. Well, screw their advice! The light tabby apprentice then proceeded to start racing for the other rabbit. Hey! I'm getting the hang of it! Baypaw was starting to get better at running in the tall grass. Wind ruffled his pelt as the cream colored tom raced for the rabbit. However, instead of leaping on top of the rabbit; Baypaw ran past it, to then start circling the rabbit. The young apprentice really wanted to see if spinning around in circles while the rabbit was in the center would make it confused. Baypaw's breathing became heavier and heavier as he ran. The beige tabby was not used to so much running. When he started to pant, Baypaw had decided that the next time he spun around, he would leap to attack the rabbit. And in a wild frenzy, the light tom did just that. As he leaped, his tail brushed softly against the ground. He landed square on top of the rabbit, not what he was expecting to do, but it would still kill the prey. Baypaw bit it hard on the neck, making the rabbit become limp. My first catch! The cream coated apprentice had not expected to catch something the first time, even though he was determined to. Baypaw looked up at the sky, hoping StarClan will see him. More specifically, for his mother that had died in the flood so many moons ago to see him that day, and to be proud of him. Baypaw : 20HP / 77SP Characters

| Watching as his apprentices leapt into action, Grousefrost nodded in approval at their speed. Though the tactic… wasn’t exactly as he instructed. He muzzle twisted as he watched Mistypaw playing with her prey. The same of Baypaw as he spun around, wasting precious energy. He sat down, tail flicking as he waited for the pair to finish their kills. “Both of you may have succeeded, but that was a miserable show.” He growled as he stood, his gaze sharp as he looked at Mistypaw. “You should know better, Mistypaw. To play with your food risks failure and losing it. It is also disrespectful to it’s life.” His head turned to Baypaw. Eyes less narrowed as it was the apprentice’s first hunt.
“Speed doesn’t guarantee a catch. Wits play a part too. That rabbit could have darted off the moment you passed it. It’s important to finish the kill swiftly. All the screeching they do as well can alert the other rabbits in the area and send them into hiding.” He stood then, padding out from between them, then pausing to look back. “...and if you’re in doubt, just imagine a fox playing with you. It wouldn’t feel good, would it?” He knew the answer, but was intent to drive it home as he padded out into the field a little further to catch his own rabbit. Gaze intent as he began to comb the grass for any sign of little ears. It took awhile. Fox lengths before he finally sighted a target, though he smelled rabbits on the way, they had likely run off due to the exact reason he had mentioned.
He crouched down carefully. Each pawstep measured and precise as he closed in with a calm and graceful quiet. The brown furred creature continued to graze, unaware of the approaching silver and white tom until it was far too late. His chase was far shorter than his apprentices had been. Claws reached out to grab it before it could do more than begin to rear up. His teeth immediately at its throat to keep its death silent as he padded over to his apprentices.
