It had been quite some time since he last had a patrol with Thistlepaw. They both were busy with their own things; Thistlepaw, with his training, and Leopardwind, with his apprentice and having to take care of Amber. It felt so strange, to have a kit under his list of responsibilities while addressing his apprentice littermate. It seemed almost as if life was going too fast for him, something he never would have thought he'd complain about, but nonetheless it had happened, and he was all the more glad for the chance to spend some time with his brother. Even if many of his clanmates' and siblings' irk towards him was not all that hidden, he would try to be a good clanmate and brother.
Technically, he was supposed to have been in charge of Thistlepaw's training today, but he knew his brother's dislike of him being of a higher rank than him, so he decided to switch it up a bit. "Thistlepaw, are you ready?" He inquired, tail lashing as his gaze fixed upon the large hare some distance away. They were meant to hunt in pairs, which would hopefully place him as an equal to his brother, even if just for a short while.

I once was a man with dignity and grace
It was incredibly weird, being the same age as Leopardwind and yet still being an apprentice. A lot of cats seemed to be moving up in rank while he was lagging behind. Not that he minded remaining an apprentice, he didn't see being a warrior as such a great thing. It was just something that happened.
But it made moments like this extremely awkward.
He was rather silent as they padded along, splitting off into pairs. There wasn't much to really say. It wasn't like Thistlepaw and Leopardwind were really close with each other. Thistlepaw had an indifference about him, and Leopardwind seemed to take that to mean he hated him.
He wasn't sure exactly what he was supposed to do about that.
It caught him by surprise when his brother spoke, having been entirely lost in his thoughts. It wasn't until he looked to where Leopardwind was pointing that he noticed the hare. "I'll move around to the side and chase it towards you."
Giving his littermate a tight nod, Thistlepaw departed. Keeping low, he circled the rabbit, getting on the opposite side of his brother. Once he was in position, he let out a yowl, inciting the rabbit to run, before directing it towards Leopardwind.

Leopardwind tensed as Thistlepaw began the hunt, chasing the hare straight towards him. Swiftly, he moved, bursting forward from where he hid amongst the tall grass to meet his prey head-on. He could almost taste the fear-scent that radiated off the creature. Twisting to the side quickly, his jaws closed around the hare's neck, crushing the bones beneath, and instantly he felt the hare fall limp in his jaws.
The warrior laid the fresh-kill down on the ground, proud of the hare's sheer size. It would fit many cats, he was sure. He flicked his tail in greeting as Thistlepaw caught up to them. "Good job, that was some nice teamwork," He commented once his brother had gotten within earshot, then added, "Is there anything in particular that you want to do now?" Something like talk with Leopardwind, or catch a bird together?

Thistlepaw looked at his brother, slightly confused. "Something else....?"
Was this not a patrol? What else was there to do? Was Leopardwind wanting to spar? Wouldn't the rest of the patrol be upset if they came back and the pair of them weren't doing what they were supposed to?
"Was there something you wanted to do? I'm a little lost, are we not meant to be hunting right now? What is it that you were thinking?"
