Setting aside the depression and guilt that had haunted her through much of her youth, Nightdancer rarely agonized over anything. In particular, she was opinionated and decisive about just about anything, and if she made a decision she wouldn't hesitate to act upon it. As such, deciding that she wanted to be a mother had been very simple for her.
And now at last her kits were here in front of her, every one of them perfect. It had been long enough now that they walked and talked on their own, but every morning she was still surprised to see them; wondering if perhaps the last several days had been some kind of dream.
Flurrykit, a name that contrasted against his dark spots and stripes but also reflected combat prowess. Serpentkit, with his tortoiseshell fur, she had given a name that reflected stealth and sudden strikes. And Minkkit, who looked the most like her, was named for a former leader of ThunderClan.
Each of them was perfect, and she would ensure they knew that fact every day of their lives.
"Come on, now. Time to wake up," she nudged each of them gently. "Don't you want to explore the camp?"

Flurrykit was sprawled out in the nest - his paws in every direction, almost as if he felt he deserved the most space (or at least as much space as his tiny body could take up.) He was the master of naps, happy to take as long as he could to wake up which meant he answered his mother's prod with a grumble...Until he heard her voice. She was the only cat the young kit was determined to listen to, blinking open his eyes as he fought back a yawn. It took him a few moments to register her words, before the exhaustion he had been been making quite a show off seemed to vanish in an instance as he turned his head to look at her.
"Explore the camp?" he repeated, quickly getting to his paws, not caring if he slightly kicked a sibling in the process. "W-We can leave the nursery now?" This was quite a huge day, he had always wanted to see the outside of the den but they hadn't been able to, which didn't make much sense to him - he had working paws, why couldn't they just stroll out? The camp was safe enough, wasn't it? He glanced at his siblings, puffing out his chest in excitement. "Serpentkit, Minkkit, get up! Come on, come on - I wanna see the camp!"

Minkkit slept half-curled, the upper half of her body resting on top of Flurrykit. There were certainly some downsides to brothers, but they made great cuddle partners. She was only nudged half-awake by Mom, but then Flurrykit leapt to his paws, throwing the black kit onto the ground. “Hey, watch it,” she whined, before realizing what was going on. “All right! Let’s go see everyone! They weren’t born as cool as we were, but I bet they’ve all gained so much coolness from training!”

The soft nudge made the small tom growl softly, his nose wrinkling instinctively as he floated in between consciousness and unconsciousness. He didn't really hear what was said. He was so comfy and snuggled up with his siblings, pressed into Flurrykit's side. Only, it seemed his littermates were determined to get up.
Serpentkit yelped as his cuddlemate suddenly lept up to his paws, kicking him in the process. "Ouch! Hey!" He hissed, his ears flicking back. Only then did their words register. They were leaving the nursery! The tiny tortie promptly hopped into his best approximation of a playful battle stance, his tail lashing. "Pfft- No one is as cool as we are! I bet I could fight them all with my eyes closed!" He was a prolific hunter of his mother's tail, catching it all the time. That was more than enough training to be able to take down a Thunderclan warrior easy-peasy.
"Come on! I'll race you all there!" He chirped, dashing for the nursery exit.

Nightdancer swiftly grabbed Serpentkit by the scruff, tugging him back toward her before letting go. "Don't rush, Serpentkit. Make your grand entrance with dignity and grace. What impression do you want to make on the warriors? That you're rash and overeager, or that you're calm, collected, and clever? Remember that any one of them may be your mentor someday, and that either the leader or deputy could be behind that entrance."
Something Nightdancer had learned quite quickly: they may be her kits, her perfect kits, but kits were without fail energetic and required a great deal of chasing and corralling to keep in any sort of order. She had thought, at first, that she at least enjoyed chasing squirrels; but squirrels had nowhere near the boundless energy of kits confined to a smallish space.
"Minkkit, Flurrykit--this applies to you as well. You want to make a good impression, to show them that you're the best of the best. You are, of course, but they won't know just by looking unless you give them a reason to think so."

Flurrykit paid no heed to his siblings complains, so excited to see the camp and meet their Clanmates. His siblings were right - the cats outside weren't as great at them but that only spurred Flurrykit to want to meet them even more, that they deserved a chance to get to know the next batch of perfect warriors! Serpentkit attempted to make his way out first only to be pulled back by their mother, Flurrykit's ears perking as she lectured them on behaving correctly. Every word earned a small nod from him, puffing out his chest in a determination to make her proud.
Calm, collected...He could do that! He would prove that he was ready to become an apprentice the heartbeat he reached six moons! (That being said, he knew he was ready to become an apprentice as soon as possible but he also knew throwing a fit over the rules wouldn't be a good idea even if he was better then what was needed) "Of course, mom!" he huffed, a smile curling at his muzzle as he padded over to give her leg a nuzzle. "I'll be the best example ever - even the warriors will wish they were as well behaved as me!"
With the reminder in place, Flurrykit took in a deep breath as headed towards the entrance of the nursery - determined to be brave. Poking his head out - witnessing the expanse on the camp itself - earned a gasp from him as he crossed the threshold into a new space. He could see warriors milling around - apprentices as well, judging by their sizes. One of which seemed to take notice of them as she turned with a smile and padded over.
"Well, you are one of Nightdancer's kits, aren't you?" the brown she-cat meowed, looking down at him. For her small size, something about her stuck out to Flurrykit as he titled his head to look up at her. He wasn't really sure the size cats came in, he had heard that a few of their Clanmates were huge but the cat in front of him was about a nose smaller than his mom and yet... He was starting to doubt his assumption that she was an apprentice even if he didn't have the words to say why. "First day out of the nursery? How exciting!"
"Uh...Yeah! I'm Flurrykit," he meowed, dipping his head. "Its nice to meet you!" With that, he turned to glance behind him - waiting for his siblings to catch up...And also hoping that his mom would be with them to explore the camp/
