Mountainkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

It seemed as soon as their first litter were out of the nursery, Vinecrawler and Quailprowler had had a second one. Now, it was one of the younger kits’ turn!

“Let all cats safe from the bramble’s thorn gather around the Highrock for a clan meeting!”

One thing was for sure, she wasn’t giving any more apprentices to cats she didn’t trust.

She was groomed and presentable, even though she had been absolutely playing with all of the kits that she could not two fox-beats earlier. Still, having pulled herself together, Mountainkit followed out of the nursery to hear Sageroot's summons. She was going to be a model kit for the younger ones, especially as she was already the size of a normal apprentice.

Sageroot purred at the prompt appearance of the oversized kit.
“Mountainkit, please step forward. You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From now until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Mountainpaw. Your mentor will be Silverdusk. Silverdusk, you have shown time and again your loyalty and trustworthiness. I trust you to train Mountainpaw well.”
