Whispers of an ancient lore [C]

Sagefeather darted after the mouse, closing in on it just as it neared a hole in the ground.

Sagefeather attempted to catch a mouse, he was SUCCESSFUL!

Barely, he managed to snatch it before it could get away. A swift kill, then Sagefeather turned his attention to Sablestrike. "That was a close one..." He laughed before he stashed the mouse between two rocks to come back for later. "You know, I wondered if I was a Windclan descendant. I have no problem catching rabbits and hares but frogs and mice have proven difficult." Sagefeather scented the air for more prey, but was going to let Sablestrike have a turn, if the deputy wanted. "What about you, Sablestrike? Are you shamefully good at catching prey that Shadowclan cats aren't supposed to be?" It was a joke, of course, but it would feel good to not be alone in this as well. As far as Sagefeather knew, he came from a very long lineage of pure Shadowclan cats.

Sablestrike flashed a smile to his patrol mate. "Still caught it. Good job, Sagefeather." Before he could go off in search of his own prey Sagefeather began to speak again. His clanmates usually didn't care to have conversations with him, this felt... Odd? It shouldn't have, but it did. "What an odd set of prey, perhaps you do have some Windclan blood in you." As he spoke the tom's smile became more genuine. "Now that you mention it, catching birds of any kind is pretty easy for me. Natural, even. You think I'm the descendant of a Skyclanner?" Sablestrike chuckled. Maybe that was why his sister felt the need to abandon them in favor of Skyclan. The fluttering of wings could be heard nearby, drawing the deputy's attention. "Let me show you what I mean."

Sablestrike stalked off towards the bird. He didn't get far before a narrow face peeked out from behind a tree, turning its sights from the avian to Sablestrike. Claws lashed in both direction, both catching nothing but air. The deputy took his chance to dash backwards and create space between himself and the fox, though it seemed his attacker was intent on following him.

A fox has appeared! Sablestrike and the Fox have missed their attacks!
