You can’t fix the past, but you can change the future.
Brackenwing was back. Sootstorm still couldn't quite believe it, and that showed in the way his eyes would light up every time he saw his mother in camp, followed by a clumsy attempt to hide his surprise with small talk. It was obvious in the way that he fumbled over his words that he hardly cared about what he was saying, just that he could talk to his mother for a while. He missed her more than he would ever admit, and he had already admitted a lot. Today, he had a bit of free time, and while he would normally stop by the warrior's den to catch up with his clanmates... the flash of familiar tabby stripes made him freeze. Brackenwing. He still had so much to tell her... the deputy quickened his pace and caught up to the elder, bumping her shoulder ever so gently. "Hey, how are you doing?" He asked, flashing her a bright smile.

She was still adjusting to the hustle and bustle of being in a clan camp again after so long staying in the quiet barn with just Whisperear, but Brackenwing couldn't help but smile every time she caught sight of one of her sons around camp. Sootstorm often approached her just to talk, but as awkward as Brackenwing herself was she would not discourage such.
A warm purr rose in her chest as he appeared at her shoulder, "I'm alright, it's an adjustment being back but... I am alright. What about you? This clan has you running ragged, it seems." There was both a hint of pride and worry in her tone, but Brackenwing was simply happy to see her son. "You can come sit, if you have the time. It's a nice day out." She added, glancing back toward the space in front of the elder's den where she usually found herself.
