Jaypaw's Moonstone Journey

The air was heavy with the promise of rain as thick grey clouds perched overhead in wait. Nothing more than a light drizzle accompanied the lingering tendrils of fog that clung to the earth. Littlesplash's already clouded vision was more blurred than usual and slowed his steps as he lead Jaypaw to the base of the Mothermouth. With the exception of narrowly missing a monster, and the medicine cat briefly stumbling over a dip in the earth or two, their journey had been uneventful. He couldn't believe that it was time for the young tom to consult the stars and prepare for warriorhood. Would he grow into a cat like his mentor, or slowly evolve into his own type of cat? Only time would tell.

With a flick of his tail, Littlesplash lead the painstakingly slow climb to the entrance. Tripping from this height would have been a hazard the gray and white patched tabby was not prepared for. As the pair of Riverclan cats approached the gaping mouth of stone that threatened to swallow both their pelts in an instant, a strange calm of familiarity overcame him. This path had been walked countless times before and it would continue to be walked for many more seasons to come. He hardly hesitated before plunging forward and relishing in the cool stone as it brushed against his fur and whiskers. It did not take long at all to reach the Moonstone, which even as the frail beams of moonlight pushed through sky cover, was still dazzling even in a dulled state.

"Lay with your nose to the stone and Starclan will share tongues with you in your sleep." He explained, quickly tucking away in the corner. Littlesplash blinked slowly in the direction of Jaypaw, waiting for some sort of odd remark to fall from the tom's tongue before following the instruction. Honestly, he would have been shocked if nothing came.
