"the shining spoon to me is someone else's story."

When he had been informed that it was his responsibility today to give WindClan's new medicine cat a tour of their territory, Pantherpounce hadn't known what to think. He had decided to take it in stride nonetheless. At least this role meant that he was trusted enough to be chosen. Still, he hadn't been interested in dedicating his entire day to a tour, so the only logical option was to start when the first light of day started to illuminate the moor. The medicine den had been so empty recently that it was easy for the tom to forget that it was now occupied, so he approached the medicine den slowly at first, but relaxed his muscles a bit when the stale scents failed to reach his nose.
"I'm assuming you were told already about what you'd be doing today? I'll be outside waiting." The tom said monotonously before turning and heading toward the camp's exit. This situation was still so bizarre to him. When had their ever been a case of medicine cats hopping from one Clan to another? Had the timing of Daisyfang's disappearance been more than just a coincidence. It made Pantherpounce feel a harsh sense of suspicion, but such a feeling conflicted with how he had witnessed Hemlockfox heal Tigerstar after his accident. Something was awry, but he couldn't quite place his paw on it.

Heather and rabbit fluff. Itchy plants and fur that tickled his nose - Hemlockfox didn't think he could stand another night in a nest so uncomfortable. It seemed so inconsequential, but he missed the soft moss and cozy feathers of his nest back home almost as much as anything else. However, moss wasn't exactly easy to find here and any that he did find had to go straight to the queens and elders which was fine, but was it so horrible to want one thing for himself? Sighing heavily, the brown and white tom sat up, finally giving up on trying to sleep. If he couldn't rest, he might as well sort the herb stores before the day began. As if there wasn't already enough to do.
This wasn't just any boring day either. Apparently, he was finally getting an official tour of WindClan's territory. Though, given what he'd seen of the moor already, Hemlockfox wasn't sure it would really be all that interesting. So maybe today would be boring after all. Grumbling, the medicine cat shuffled through a recently disturbed pile of leaves, carefully sorting them back into their respective places. Ugh - he felt like he was reorganizing every other day here because StarClan forbid he live in a normal den where the wind wouldn't blow all of his herbs around.
Time flew, at least, and before Hemlockfox knew it, Pantherpounce was behind him, announcing that it was time for the little tour to begin. With a flick of his tail, the fluffy tom shoved the remaining roots and petals into a dip in the ground and swept out of the sheltered alcove. Blue eyes lingered distastefully on the black tom and, ears slicked back, Hemlockfox followed him across the camp. "Good morning to you too." He grunted, appalled by the warrior's absolute disregard for manners. Nevermind the fact that he'd certainly be acting the same in his paws.

"Right..." Pantherpounce murmured in return once Hemlockfox joined him outside. WindClan had plenty of landmarks, but the tom didn't plan on taking his time. He'd be able to assess whether or not the cat before him was going to be a good medicine cat or not based on how quickly he could pick up information. He promptly flicked his tail to signify that it was time to leave. The warrior flicked a dark ear as they padded along. He wasn't the biggest fan of talking for an extended period of time, and that's all a tour was: endless talking. He would've frowned if he was able to.
"The flower fields." Pantherpounce started once they arrived at their first destination. "You'll spend plenty of time here, right? Collecting herbs and whatnot, I suppose. Familiarize yourself with it, then let's go. We have plenty of other places to be." He kept his steely gaze focused on Hemlockfox as he spoke. Perhaps it was a good thing that he was not capable of showing emotion, because his suspicion toward the ex-SkyClanner definitely would've shown through by now.

"Hmm." Well. He was a bit rude, wasn't he? Hemlockfox didn't really blame him, of course. He was certain he'd act the same if some stranger from another clan became SkyClan's medicine cat. Which...he had, in a sense. Only, Thymelight had been a loner, not another clan cat. It was worse, but only marginally so. Regardless, he was WindClan's only medicine cat now, Pantherpounce really 'ought to act with a little more tact. Whiskers twitching thoughtfully, Hemlockfox followed the dark tom out of the camp in silence, not feeling keen on conversation himself.
They walked for some time before eventually cresting a hill and, as Hemlockfox assessed the landscape, his tense expression slackened. Great StarClan. There were so many flowers here. The smell was overpowering, almost, and made his nose itch. How was he possibly supposed to pick out herb-scent amongst the vast sea of petals? Though, the longer he looked, the easier it became to pick out patches of thick green and familiar leaves. Blue eyes scanned the scene for a few moments before he nodded and turned back to Pantherpounce. "Mhm. At a glance, there's plenty of herbs here, but I'll explore another time. Wouldn't want to bore you."
Then, with one last glance at the colorful valleys and hills, the seal point tom shook out his fluffy coat. As if the direct sun wasn't bad enough, all of these grasses and seeds got stuck in his fur so easily. With an irritated huff, he looked around at the surrounding moor. "What's next?" It all looked pretty boring, honestly. The flower fields would likely be the most exciting bit.

"Well, let's not pretend I wasn't already bored." Pantherpounce remarked before taking the lead once again. "We'll go to the lone stump next."
He wasn't interested in hearing anything else from the tom unless it was some sort of true explanation as to why he was here. Surely StarClan had to have told him something when they suddenly came to the conclusion that WindClan needed a medicine cat that didn't even share their blood. Did the stars expect them to see this as some sort of gift? What an insult.
"Keep up. If we don't get the comfort of having a medicine cat that's actually from our Clan then you don't get the comfort of taking a leisurely stroll. StarClan is very capable of making mistakes of their own and it appears they've done it yet again." The tom didn't look over at Hemlockfox as he spoke, but he knew that his voice was clear enough to be heard either way. This wasn't something that he took lightly. There were very few things that could rattle the usually calm Pantherpounce, and WindClan being shown disfavor was one of them.

Hemlockfox barked out a laugh, his face twisted into a wry smile. "Fair enough." He muttered, whiskers twitching in amusement despite the fact that the joke - if he could call it that - was at his expense. Pantherpounce was hard to read, but at least he wasn't as bland and bubbly as much of the rest of the clan. He didn't think he'd be able to survive an entire tour with Oatfluff. The brown tom seemed to mean well, he was...a lot. And not necessarily in a good way either. At least he wasn't as obnoxious at Thymelight...somehow.
The lone stump didn't sound terribly exciting, but Hemlockfox didn't complain. At least, not out loud. Though, as the smokey black tom continued, he couldn't stop his fur from bristling as indignant words rose in his mouth. "Excuse me?" He snapped, blue eyes narrowed. But no, he'd heard the WindClanner just fine - it was just strange to be spoken to in such a way. Especially from cats who ranked below him. "You say that as if you think I was thrilled by the assignment either." He growled, tail tip twitching. "If it were up to me, I'd tell StarClan to eat crowfood and go back home." But it wasn't up to him, so here he was, among unfamiliar cats.
Then, growl rumbling in his throat, Hemlockfox trotted ahead of Pantherpounce and stared him down. If he was going to act like a foxheart, he could at least have the decency to look at him when speaking. "And if you'll recall, I've already saved Tigerstar's life. And that she-cat, Nectarflower. Think what you will, but without me here, they'd be long dead." Because, as much as Panterpounce may hate it, even if a WindClanner had been made medicine cat, they wouldn't have been able to do anything. They would have floundered in their new role, unsure of what to do and unable to even find the right herbs to help.
