Wolfpaw had found his paws again trailing the slope that he had experienced the misfortune of meeting the stink-thing on. The very thought of it had him digging up the well-trodden dirt with his claws, and he let out a shaky huff. His ears flicked, listening to the chatter of a distant patrol that was winding away back in the direction of camp. The first time, he had veered off path to the Thunderpath himself. This time, he was sent to do so. The scent of rogue still hung around the place, and as he crested over the top, he wasn't quite sure whether he was disappointed or pleased that there was no mud-pelted tiny thing knocking about.
There was, however, a different scent. He could just about make it out amongst the bitter, stinging scent of the black rocked Thunderpath. He placed one paw on it, and felt no rumblings. He heard nothing either, and deemed it safe. Safe, but he still wasn't too keen on crossing. He almost recognised the scent, like it was on the tip of his tongue. His tail jumped back and forth behind him, his eyes narrowed in concentration and some kind of attempt to drag it out of the depths of his memory. Nothing, but he knew he'd be kicking himself the moment it-- or they-- revealed themselves.

She was nearing the end of her apprenticeship, and the finale of honing her own skills meant being able to patrol the territory with confidence. Of course, another warrior had gone with her, but they hung back and had allowed her to go where she desired. She wasn't going to complain, and her paws had carried her to one of their lesser-contested borders. An easy patrol, so that she would be able to immediately turn right around, and spend the rest of her day in the flower fields. With newleaf now appearing, the flowers had begun to bloom, and she particularly adored just how beautiful every petal was. A beauty that she wanted to reflect within herself. A beauty that she found fitting of her gaze, as she found her clanmates particularly boring.
Her attention snagged, however, as she approached what should have been a silent path. Her nose wrinkled for a moment in the sting of the Thunderpath in general, but there was something else. Something other. It was impossible for her to hide with her snow-white pelt practically forcing her to appear as a beacon across the path against the green of newleaf's grasses, so her strategy instead was to make herself as non-threatening of a target as possible. She looked across the path, hoping to not find an intruder, and her ear flicked as she scanned. "Is someone there?" Pipitpaw called out, her voice carrying a sweet tone to it. Curiosity. Not a threat that she would bolt across the disgusting path to attack them.

Wolfpaws ear twitched. He recognised that voice. He had thought about it, often. It still lived. He narrowed his eyes, searching-- Ah, there. Stark white. He huffed, and straightened himself up.
"You," He called over the Thunderpath, half expecting his voice to bounce back at him-- But it did not. It carried. His ear flicked, as though to draw the she-cats line of vision. Look at me, He thought. It sounded almost pleading in his mind, and he let out a sharp exhale. "WindClan cat. From the Gathering. Pipitpaw."
He went quiet. His own speech sounded rigid, like a stone striking a stone. Punctuated, like there was no freedom or loose tongue in his mouth at all. He stared at her, that white shadow, almost uncomfortably. His eyes began to ache, and he realised he had to blink. So he did. But his gaze was fixed, unwavering, on the she.
