A few days had passed since the battle between the three clans and things seem to have calmed down slightly. Myrtlebloom was on her way back from a hunt when she notice Harepaw coming out of the apprentice den. "Hello Harepaw, have you checked on Honeydew today?" She gently mewed to the tom. "Let me drop this kill off at the pile and then maybe we can talk?" Her eyes met his and she gave him a slight smile. Myrtlebloom hardly ever talked to the tom. He was a bit older than her, and she didn't make a habit of talking to other cats to begin with. She really only interacted with him when she was with Honeydew. She just thought she could get some news on Honeydew without pestering her too much.
Myrtlebloom knew her friend needed rest and that her family would probably be enough pestering for her in a day. She didn't really want to talk to Shatteredsky, he wouldn't be helpful, and she didn't dare approach Falconmoon, the tom scared to wits out of her. So that left Harepaw. She returned to Harepaw quickly after dropping off the fresh kill. It dawned on Myrtlebloom that she was more concerned about Honeydew and hadn't thought about how her friend's brother was doing at all. "How are you holding up with everything? I know it's a lot to take in and adjust to." Myrtlebloom's eyes softened as she spoke. She couldn't even begin to understand how the tom felt. Harepaw didn't really know the she-cat that approached him that well. Any of the interactions were in passing and brief, so for her to approach him surprised the tom slightly, not enough for it to show on his face, but just enough to give him pause. What did she want with him? Steel blue eyes looked at the warrior with interest that fell as soon as she mentioned Honeydew. Of course he would be asked about her.. That is all anyone seemed to care about was her. Even his other siblings focused on her. He should have known. "She has enough cats worrying over her she doesn't need one more." He stated as the she-cat had begun to walk away to drop off her gathered prey. Why did he even bother to stick around? Why wait for her return? It was clear her priority was Honeydew, not him. But he stayed.
The golden tom curled his tail over his paws, some what closing in on himself. He didn't really want to talk but if the she-cat was stubborn enough to try then she was more than welcome to. He couldn't really promise his answers would be kind. "I'm fine. I was trained well enough to be strong about these things." It was a lie.. Well the being fine part, but he wasn't going to tell anyone else that. No one earned the right to know.
It was true Honeydew did have a lot of cats worrying about her, which was part of the reason Myrtlebloom had decided to ask how Harepaw was doing. He had lost his mentor, his grandmother and his aunt all in one go. Myrtlebloom couldn’t even begin to imagine how the young tom felt; she was still grieving her mother’s death.
A frown slipped across her lips at the apprentice’s words. ‘Trained to be strong about these things? What does that even mean?’ Myrtlebloom thought to herself. “Um, are you saying you’re trained to keep your emotions hidden basically?” She mewed gently. If that were the case that would explain so much about Harepaw and his family. She glanced away for a moment and then back at the golden tom, “Er, you don’t have to answer that if you don’t want..”

Harepaw rolled his eyes. It seemed this cat didn't really understand. He was going to try and explain but he didn't expect it to get through her head. "No, just know how to process them and deal with them better than a lot of cats in this clan." He replied plainly. Another lie, but it didn't matter. He would lie to protect himself, lie to protect the vulnerabilities inside. He had to be strong after all.
Myrtlebloom couldn’t even pretend to know what the tom was talking about or how a cat could be trained to quickly process what she would deem a tragedy if it were her family. Then again Harepaw’s family was a mystery in itself. “Well if you ever need someone to talk to, you can talk to me.” She mewed quietly. “I know we don’t really know each other that well, but I would like to try to be friends if you are open to that…” Myrtlebloom’s ears laid back and she turned her head away from the tom as she spoke. Her friend making skills were practically non-existent and anxiety prickled at Myrtlebloom’s paws. She wanted to run and hide but she needed to try and be more social and where better to start than with Honeydew’s sibling? Harepaw shook his head. "My issues or perceived issues are not something I will openly discuss with anyone." He didn't need anyone knowing about his insecurities or to potentially use them against him. He had to be a strong warrior regardless of what happens. He had to be as good as his siblings. "But I don't mind having more friends." He added. She was making an effort so he should at least try as well. At least for the good of the clan. If he got along with his clanmates then the clan would be better off.
Myrtlebloom gave the apprentice a slight smile, “It’s ok if you don’t want to talk about it, I wont force you.” She mewed gently. She was happy that Harepaw was willing to try to be her friend and she gave him a brief nod. “I should probably let you get back to what you were doing.” She purred.
