Mysterious Girl Misunderstood

Rapidkit snuggled in close to mum for warmth, whoever's idea it was to live in the snow she would have serious suggestions to about this.

Blinking awake from her nap she glanced around and saw her sister Heatherkit. The little look alike of their mum kit scurried over to Heatherkits side and nuzzled gently into her shoulder.

"Heatherkit!" she meowed almost sing-songy like. "wanna play?" she meowed looking up to her sister with wide eyes. "please oh please? It can be anything you wanna do!" she spun around and around settling back down finally next to her sister.

Her fur was sticking out in a couple places but she did not mind in the slightest, how her pelt was groomed or not was the last thing on her priority list and that was aided by the fact that she in general did not overthink what others thought of her too much.

She loved her family and knew that they loved her back and what else could possibly matter. She pawsied gently at Heatherkit trying to get any sort of attention or reaction from her bigger sibling. (I actually have no idea if Heather is bigger so ignore that if you called dibs on being the runt)

Heatherkit had finally drifted into an uneasy sleep, her flank rising and falling slowly with each shallow breath. Resting was something that she did not enjoy. The energetic young kit's paws always wanted to be doing something. She looked up to her father, the deputy, who was often telling other cats what needed to be done and making sure the clan kept moving. Every so often she would boldly go up to a warrior and try to bark orders like Sootstorm but it was always quickly written off as kitten play, which made her more cross. She couldn't wait until she was a warrior and then maybe cats would finally listen.

Her dreams were vivid visions of leading patrols through the mountainous territory, leading like Sootstorm and Tigerstar. Subconscious steps caused her paws to twitch and claws to become unsheathed. As paws shook her coat, Heatherkit's eyes snapped open. She grumbled lowly, realizing that it was Rapidkit who had decided to stir her from sleep. As much as she truly loved all of her littermates, it was exhausting to be interrupted by the ones that were less driven. How were they supposed to become great warriors if all they did was play all the time?

Unlike Rapidkit, Heatherkit's pelt was always neatly groomed. She sat up slowly, stretching, and running her tongue over displaced strands of fur before shaking out her coat. Regarding her sister for a moment, a grin crossed Heatherkit's maw. Crouching with her belly low to the ground, she fixed Rapidkit with ice blue eyes and wiggled her haunches, "Alright. Let's play hunting then. You're the prey!" With that she leaped, bowling over Rapidkit, and pinning her to the ground.

Rapidkit understood their father was very important and all... and while she loved all her family so much she was not really one to go seaking his approval just to seek approval.  Her dreams of the future did not involve anything like this of leading anything or barking orders at anyone... moreso they involved becoming a warrior yes... did it have to be the best warrior ever seen? No, more importantly to her was being her and if someone did not like that they could go sniff mud.

There was a slight amount of anxiety that she did not even like being the deputies kit... her siblings and sisters especially seemed to really like it ... but for her? She felt like it just made everyone look at them more closely, she didn't really want all that necessarily.  While she loved her papa, she did not really love his job the same way Heatherkit might.

So to her, playtime was way more interesting than learning time. As Heatherkit was waking up she hip-hopped back and forth from paw to paw very happy as she almost always was.  She gave a happy purr as her sibling was wiggling about and crouched down.

"what are ya doin- she never had a chance to finish that question as she was flung over to her side in an instant.

Her eyes went wide, OHH this game again!??

She gave out a squeal of a playful yell as her sibling was on top of her in an instant.  "eek, hey now no fair I was the prey last time too remember?!" she giggled pawing up at her 'attacker'

This was okay though... she didn't dare say this part aloud for fear it would only ruin it but this was the only way she could sneak cuddles in with Heatherkit sometimes.  Her sister seemed very focused on things and being the best warrior possible before they were even apprentices which confused rapidkit somewhat as much as she loved her sister.


"oh no you caught me!" she purred trying to hide the giggle that was teetering on her voice.  She didn't really care about 'winning' or 'losing' this game just as she didn't really care as much of what others thought of her too much.  She knew that heatherkit loved her and she loved her backsies!!!


She wrapped her little paws around her sisters back in a little hug.  But she knew she couldn't just do that for long or else Heatherkit would be annoyed and not want to 'play' anymore.

So with a little sigh she broke that off and actually tried to unpin herself. If she was going to sneak cuddles in she at least owed in return to try and fight back in her siblings prefered game of wrestling.   Pushing up at her sister to get her off, "You eat too much" she grumbled but in a playful and loving way.

She managed to get a paw free and pawed at Heatherkit.  "I'm gonna be the wolf then like from the stories!" she challenged and gave her best growl and showed her little teeth... It it was not so cute maybe it would be scary but it was not scary at all. She was trying to play her sisters game the way Heatherkit liked... but try as she might she was not like Heather or Crake in the way of how they could be scaries at times.

She blinked looking at her more tilting her head "like that??" she asked in a hushed whisper as if in an ooc voice of their own little game.

As Rapidkit wiggled about underneath her, Heatherkit gave her a fanged smile and pressed harder, "If you don't want to be prey, you have to put up a better fight than that!" She knew that Rapidkit wasn't one for turning playtime into training, like her and Crakekit. Although she didn't think much about it, her smaller littermate was very kind when it came to indulging her driven antics. As the spikey-pelted kit giggled, Heatherkit looked down at her with curious blue eyes and her tail flickered. Rapidkit was always so silly, it baffled her that another kit could be so simply carefree. In the back of her mind she saw Sootstorm, paws constantly busy with care of other cats.

When paws wrapped around her, she froze for a moment before wriggling slightly, uncomfortably but not enough to dislodge Rapidkit's paws. Occasionally, she too could indulge her siblings. But not for long. Heatherkit scoffed as she was pushed off, "Maybe you just eat too little, scrap." She tipped her head to the side at the thought of Rapidkit being a wolf. Those were supposed to be big scary predators, which was the furthest things from Rapidkit. All she could do at her sister's display was laugh with a twitch of her whiskers. The sound shook her sides as she nodded her head back and forth.

"You almost have it... maybe more like this." Heatherkit spread her paws to a sturdy stance. Her teeth were bared and her fur bristled as she snarled. That seemed like a wolf sound. Lashing her tail and hardening her gaze, she stared at Rapidkit, "Come on, be the scariest wolf! I can take anything!"

The little kit nuzzled her sibling happily at the playful comments of being the little scrap. She knew well it was Heatherkit's way of showing love even if it was different from how she herself showed that.

Blinking she watched intrigued as her sister did her wolf impression. She awed a little over it and jumped a little into the air, "you are scariest wolf ever!! Your warrior name shall be Heatherwolf!" she purred nodding.

She was more than happy to feed into Heatherkits dreams of being a warrior! That made her sister happy right?

She nodded understanding that she had to play Heatherkits game of trying to look scary, after all Heatherkit was pretty patient with all the hugging she had just snuck into the prey game of theirs. Fair was fair that she should try and make Heather's wolf game be fun too.

"ok ok ok I'll try and be scarier and less cute!" she purred a goofy and cute look on her face as she suddenly tried to get very serious.


She cleared her throat a little bit and widened her paws out like she had just seen her sister demonstrate.

She bared her lips back in a snarly hiss and arched her back up flexing her little claws harmlessly into the snowy ground below them.

"rar!!!" she hissed at her sister but moments later was giggling a little bit... she had done quite well actually before she started giggling.


"This is too silly I cant keep a serious face Heather" she purred gently pawing at her sibling.

"Heather? We should collect something cool so when we are back at the ... the more lands we can has the trip things and memories the young kit didnt know how to say MOOR lands and kept messing up that pronunciation. She sometimes wondered what in the world a more land was maybe their analytical brother fidgetkit could figure that out.


"I'll find something pretty and put it in your hair" she meowed jumping to her paw already looking...

She glanced at her sister thinking... "you probably dont like that idea do you?? It's okay we can trade, you find something scary to put in my hair so it is even okie?" this way they could leave a little pawprint so to speak on one another AND have something from their journey!

As Rapidkit broke out her best impression of a wolf, Heatherkit's whiskers began to twitch with amusement. After a few moments of the display, she found herself dissolving into giggles as well. Despite the fact she wasn't able to understand her sister's lack of drive and her lack of interest in the path ahead, it was obvious how much she truly did appreciate her littermate. The she-kit had fallen back onto her haunches. As they wiggled slightly, she prepared to pounce on the mock enemy... before it started speaking to her. Heatherkit tipped her head and meowed quizzically, "Wolves don't collected pretty objects. At least, I don't think so..."

The remark was meant as a joke but she was worried Rapidkit wouldn't notice. Every so often, Heatherkit was too serious and her siblings had pointed that out. With a flick of her tail, she amended the response, "Well, I think that is a great idea. Warriors can be both beautiful and scary! I mean just look at my fur!" She straightened out and fluffed out her coat for emphasis.

Rapidkit nodded very much so agreeing with her sisters comment about her fur. "yes! indeed!" she agreed. She loved getting to fill the role of cheer-lead sort of for the litter. If boosting her sisters ego was a possibility at any time, she would always take it!

"okie okie okie this is gonna be so cool!" she meowed as she looked around for the bestest thing possible to put in her sisters fur pelt.

There was not much around like at all... it was all just snow and ice and cold...

Rapidkit blinked feeling a bit like she would let Heatherkit down if she did not find something

She just had to find something that would make her sister happy no matter whats! Heatherkit had to keep thinking highly of herself no matter what right? Cause as a sister that is what she was supposed to do for Heatherkit.

"oohhh I know!!! she purred. Her heart big as ever smiling from ear to ear.

"you can wear some of my fur!" she meowed and literally seconds later, before even having time to think it through any further, had bit her own tail tip and yanked it pulling out a tuff of her own whispy fur.

"owiwaasdl ACHHHHH" she winced in pain as tears threatened to flood her eyes... She didn't wanna cry though... that would ruin the gift for her beloved sister. But holy dark forest that had hurt so much.

she shakily held it out for Heatherkit to try on. "I h-hope you like it" she meowed trying not to let her voice crack in the still pain that shot up her tail.



(Okkkk... so maybe that was a bit silly or far fetched... but I really do think it has some cool symbolism... Rapidkit is the one who is always going to feed Heather and Crakes ego becuase she loves them so much. And for rapidkit showing love is cuddles and making her siblings feel as good as possible. Will go to just about any lengths to do so even if that means hurting herself in process? Foreshadowing?? ohh maybeies? who knows. Is also possible speedy is doing posts wayyyy too late at night lmao, either way I love heather and had funs writing it)

Heatherkit nodded, going along with Rapidkit's antics. Her littermate and her were different in so many ways and yet shared the commonality of love and care for one another's well-being. For both of them, this was portrayed in unique ways. She tipped her head to the side and settled back on her haunches as the other kit searched around for some sort of decoration. Blinking at her sister's enthusiasm, Heatherkit straightened up a bit, admittedly curious where the molly's wandering mind would take them both. Intensions were revealed at Rapidkit turned to rip some of the fur from her pelt.

The she-kit was surprised and her jaw went slightly slack but she couldn't think of quite what to say with her inexperienced, kit-like mind. All she knew is the idea seemed a little wrong. Regardless, in an effort to entertain her sister, she reached forward and took the fur to tuck it into her flank. Once that was settled, Heatherkit turned back to Rapidkit, "Now no cat will be able to tell the difference between us! Better keep the rest of your pelt on you so they don't get too confused." Her whiskers twitched, kit-like antics quickly replacing the momentary malaise.
