Zip, zap, zop [c]

A heavy snow had come down the night before, and as Crakekit stirred, the sight of nothing but white powder surprised her. It took her a few moments of blinking before she realized just what it was--no, she wasn't blind, it was more snow! More snow meant more time to play! A toothy grin spread across her paw, and all of a heartbeat later that firey determination had been quick to settle into her frame. The closest sibling to her got a sharp nudge with her head, practically upending them from whatever sleep they may have been in. "Rapidkit, wake up! We should go train in the snow!" Her voice was a hurried whisper, giving absolutely no room for argument. She needed to get a head-start on her apprenticeship, especially if she couldn't yet hunt!

Impatience fueled the kit. Crakekit had hardly given her sister enough time to wake before taking her sibling's tail in her mouth, and giving it a quick tug. "Come on! Let's go! We need to be able to impress our mentors! To impress papa!"

One second she was dreaming. The warmth and sweet scent of fennel breeze right next to her and the comfort of a full belly of milk.

The next second however was being nudged and shoved awake. She blinked lots confused rubbing a paw over her sleepy face as her wide eyes that matched their mum blinked awake looking at her sister. Then a sharp tug and she gave a little squeal of a meow as her tail got yanked over.

It didn’t hurt too much and at this point she was more so used to her sister’s rambunctious nature. She gave a little pur trying to keep up with crakekit as she glanced out at the white snow fields beyond. Hurriedly she followed in her sisters pawsteps and felt the snow crunch under her.

“Oh it’s so colddd” she squealed shaking snow bits off her paw and looking at her sister with her little ears laid back. Looking a little bit like… ‘do we have to do this?’

Rapidkit in general, did not really mind what others thought of her, she was not one to worry about impressing anyone like it seemed her sister sometimes was. However, as true as that was in general… she felt different about crakekit. She found her rowdy sibling a lot of fun actually and she did care what crakekit thought of her. She wasn’t really sure how to act sometimes yet around her sister yet…. She knew that she loved her, they were family and very close and all but sometimes she felt very shy around crakekits energy event thought she admired her sisters firey attitude a great deal.

“O-oh okay then” she nodded listening to how they were apparently going to train. She gave her sister a shy little grin her ears flicking too and fro…

“Maybe I’ll actually pin you for once!” She giggled thinking about all the times crakekit had climbed over her whenever they were in the nursery to get to fennel’s belly for snuggles or food.

She wasn’t really sure what to expect from crakekit at any given moment but that is what left her so fascinated and in loving admiration of her sibling.

“Ready when you are!” She chirped

While Heather always launched at her with challenge, it seemed that Rapidkit was always eager for whatever it was that would go on. Should they ever try and get in trouble, she had a feeling Rapidkit would simply follow along without so much as another glance to what they were actually doing. Part of Crakekit liked that, but another part of her saw just how quickly that could get her sibling in trouble. After all, what if the wrong cat tried to influence Rapidkit?

Still, that didn't matter. "Good luck doing that," Crakekit almost snorted in response to Rapidkit musing the idea of getting to pin her down.

Once they'd moved away from any of the other sleeping queens and their kits-because stars have mercy if they ever got interrupted-Crakekit launched herself right at her sister. Instead of trying to go above like she'd done so many times before, though, the kit tried something new. She'd overheard that the belly was the weakest part of a cat, and so it was her mission to send her paws batting right at Rapidkit's belly.

Rapidkit did not take her sisters laughing at her in a bad way at all.  She even grinned a little happy that she could make her sibling giggle.

She followed her younger and larger sibling right on over to the spot and watched her get ready. She figured this was going to be a pretty laid-back 'spar' of mostly just hanging out.  And that is what she wished for, oh how far that wish would ever be from coming true.

Then everything happened so so fast... seconds later she felt herself get launched over and a sharp pain on her tummy as her sister attacked.  She got the wind knocked out of her and she got wide eyed and scampered backwards away from Crakekit.  That had really hurt.  She panted a little and felt something she hadn't really ever felt before all wash over her.  She struggled back up to her paws feeling nauseous something wicked from that gut punch. She felt tears tingling at her eyes and they threatened to fall down out of her eyes.  Anyone else and she wouldnt really care if she cried in front of them becasue... she didnt really care what most others thought of her... but not Crakekit.  For whatever reason her most powerful tool of not caring did not work against her sister...

Whether it was looking up to her or admiring that she was so fiery was not clear but she held those tears back and scampered back to her paws.  She hadn't felt this hurt at all before and it kicked something into gear deep inside her.  She never felt this level of ... anger?? but it wasn't anger necessarily just... fire?

Good stars... is this what heather and crake always felt like? Perhaps a small amount of her siblings trait was in her as well ... she just had to get hit hard enough for it to come out.

She narrowed her usually wide and cheery eyes into a bit of almost a glare (this is assuming rapidkit can even glare at anyone)

She didn't understand why Crakekit liked to play like this instead of cuddle time which she preferred tenfold to what ever THIS was... but if Crakekit wanted a little spar time she just got it.

Anyone else, and Rapidkit would probably just lay on her side and hold her tail over her sore tummy and cry for a little bit... but Crakekit? She actually cared what crakekit thought of her and she kinda feared if she did that Crakekit would never wanna play again, not that she really enjoyed this version of play but it was the time she had with Crakekit all the same.

"That really hurt Crakekit!" she meowed quietly angry/complaining.

She launched back at her sister and mimicked what she had seen Heatherkit do time and time again whenever those two did their rough-housing.

She didn't really let off the gas either, she was so unused to this 'sparring' game that she was unsure how much was the right amount or not, it was either all on or all off for her.

And right now... Crakekit got what she probably wanted.

Rapidkit batted at her siblings ears to distract her once then went low swiping crakekits legs out trying to send her right over as well.  She was not using claws but she also was not pulling any punches either.  

Even in this hurt and anxious/angry state she was so tempted to just stop and give Crakekit a hug... but the fear of losing whatever little respect crakekit had for her trumped all else right now.  Maybe if she actually stood up for herself just once Crakekit would be okay with who she was?  In either case she was gonna go cuddle mom lots after this as long as crakekit didnt see that.

From the way that Rapidkit moved in response to her bats, Crakekit was quick to tell that it had struck at something in her sister. Immediately, the she-kit looked to check if she had somehow caused actual damage. Her paws were still pristine, but she knew it could definitely hurt to even have your belly scraped at. Heatherkit had taught her that much. So she lightened up, at least having learned her lesson. "Sorry, Rapidkit," Crakekit tossed the quick apology in, her ears flashing back for just a moment in sympathy.

Then her sister launched right at her.

All force behind it.

It sent the kit tumbling backwards, the pair practically rolling and doing a flip as they became a flash of fur and grumbles. "Wow, Rapidkit! You never told me you were this good!" Perhaps it was the result of always watching Crakekit tumble with her littermates, but this was a part of Rapidkit she hadn't seen. She tried to bob out of the way, only to be met by her sister's paw bapping her cheek. Ducking the other way, her sister caught her hindleg. There was something about that that Crakekit had to admit was simply beautiful.

As the swipe came to her legs, Crakekit tumbled right down, and couldn't help but grin. "You win! I'm amazed, sis!" A giggle bubbled up into her throat, accompanied by a loud, rumbling purr. Yes, her sister would be just fine out there in the forest.

Rapidkit blinked at her sisters words as she nudged her sister back toward her paws. "wow really??" she meowed. This was like a dream come true, she always did want the respect of Crake... She had no idea that beating crake in a spar was even possible until now.

She gave her sister a friendly nuzzle like she so often did.
