Bubblepaw needed to distract herself. Desperately. Though she'd just gotten back from a patrol, she found herself antsy to do something--anything--to help someone else. If she focused on herself then she knew she would start thinking again, and she was tired of rubbing at the scar on her face or dreading the rumors of war that flitted around camp like so many pitch-black butterflies. All her siblings--the thought of Ploverpaw once again sandbagged her for a moment but she shook it off--were busy doing one thing or another. For some reason her eyes moved gradually towards the makeshift medicine den, where a familiar face was organizing their limited herb stock. Smokefeather must have been off doing something else because Thymepaw was alone. Bubblepaw considered Thymepaw a friend, but they hadn't gotten to interact much with the business of the journey and the illness and the hundred thousand other things that they had to do every day. Thymepaw had to be exhausted, though, having just become medicine cat apprentice recently and now being forced to do so much at once. Maybe she could help ease the burden a little bit?
It didn't take long to walk over. "Hey Thyme," Bubblepaw said, offering a smile. "How you doing? Anything I can do to help?" Please, please say yes. The last thing she wanted was to drift around aimlessly for a single second longer.

Thymepaw quietly lifted an ear once she heard the familiar voice of Bubblepaw. She was honestly relieved to have some positive company. Working with Smokepetal and learning about being a medicine cat was honestly a dream come true, but there was still the issue of Bearpaw... well, she didn't mean to label him as an "issue", but the disdain he held toward her wasn't necessarily a good thing either. She was probably overthinking most of it... but it was better to trust her gut and simply leave him alone instead of giving in to her optimism and risk being snapped at.
"Hi, Bubblepaw. It's really good to see you, actually. You can help me sort these herbs if you'd like... it may be a little boring, but I'd appreciate the help." She greeted the apprentice with a grin and a flick of her tail. Perhaps this would be a good time for her to confide in someone. Truthfully, she wasn't quite used to opening up to others. She usually was the one who listened instead of spoke, but she was going to have to change that one of these days.

Bubblepaw felt her ears perk up and her shoulders loosen in relief when Thymepaw responded as she'd hoped. Help sort herbs? "Sure," she answered gratefully, scooting up close to her friend. Soft gray fur melded with Thymepaw's as she sat by the medicine cat apprentice's side, peering carefully at the piles of dried leaves and flowers. "Uh... you might have to tell me how to do this, though," she said, offering a small, sheepish smile. "I can't tell the difference. Just give me a simple task and I'll help with the busywork. I don't care if it's boring! I just... need something to do with my paws right now." She glanced down at the paws in question, shifting them slightly to hide the inner turmoil she was trying to bury. "And hanging out with you will be nice, too."
