Mottlestar “May the stars light our paths.”
Today was one of her better days. She'd gone to Fawnshine-or rather, Fawnshine had come to her, and refused to let her move until she'd gotten at least some mixture of herbs down to attempt to rid of some of the symptoms that wracked her body without so much as a singular breath of respite. As much as she had tried to persuade the medicine cat to leave the herbs available for her Clanmates that actually needed them, she couldn't stop the medicine cat forever, ultimately relenting to the assistance that she promised. Though she didn't want to take up any of the precious resources when she could just as easily use one of the lives she'd been given to rejuvenate her, it was seeing the vision of a rather angry prickle-pelted medicine cat that had gotten her to suck it up and simply take the herbs. Unsurprisingly, they'd helped.
It had been on her radar for some time, too, to go talk to one of her clanmates. For as much life as she attempted to breathe into Thunderclan, death had unfortunately followed her around like an apprentice. A lost shadow, that clung to the ebony tufts of her fur. It had claimed the most feisty of her children. Rosethorn had been much more than a daughter at that point... she'd been a mate, and a mother. Mottlestar tried not to think about what it would be like if her life had been claimed before that of her kits. She didn't want that pain on any cat: to have to see their mother go. It was how life usually worked, but... Mottlestar had begun to know the pain of loss. She'd lost so many kits at this point, but had no time to grieve their deaths. It was the burden of a mother, who also carried the mantle of the leader.
But just because she was too busy and harsh on herself to take time to grieve did not mean her clanmates didn't feel the pain. She'd kept an eye on Curlyfluff from afar - knowing that it hurt him, too. Walking through the aches and chill that made her want to turn around and rest, she approached the tom. Gently, mostly because her voice couldn't speak much louder, she called to him. "Hey. How are you faring?" Tender care. Sick as she was, that care would never leave. He was as much of a son to her now as Redsun was, after all.
