A way to a restful sleep (Death topic)

Like a lion Silverwing had been dragged under. She had no clue when it had started or when it would end, but the pain she felt in this moment was too much to bear. Regular coughing fits had done well to pull her throat to bloody shreds, evident by the flecks of blood that she had consistently been leaving around. It was odd, she had decided, to be bleeding without a visible wound, but there wasn't much she could do about that. She could feel the red liquid crawling down her throat, stinging as it travelled to its next destination. It would be back when the coughing came. Beyond that, Silverwing had noticed her strength failing her. Lifting a single paw now seemed like such a monumental task that the molly had just remained curled up and far from sight. She had planned to sleep the sickness away, but each passing day had done nothing but sap what little strength she had been holding onto. She now recognized that plan for what it was: stupid.

Silverwing had isolated herself to keep from worrying anyone else, but now all she wanted was to be with someone. She didn't want to be alone anymore. Even if she made her clanmates worry Silverwing just wanted to be surrounded by others, talking about her usual nonsense or even bothering Fuzzface and his adorable family. She had been stealing glances at the cute little fuzz balls ever since the clans had reached the lakes. After this sickness was finished with her Silverwing was already planning on becoming a menace to her former apprentice's family, they wouldn't get a single ounce of rest. Silverwing smiled to herself. There was no telling how much longer the clans would stay here, she'd just have to get better soon so she could spend as much time with Fuzzface as possible. After all, when the clans went back to the forest she would only be able to see him at gatherings.

Silverwing shut her eyes. The pain kept her from falling asleep immediately, so the molly focused on the sound of her breath. Breathe in, and out. Come to think of it, she hadn't seen Brackenwing with Windclan at all. Breathe in. Whisperear too, and Ryecatcher. Breathe out.

Gradually the molly's breathing began to slow as she slipped into a peaceful dream, her flanks falling one last time as the breath finally left her.
