Setting Flames To Soot Once More[C]

Sootstorm was surprisingly sad to see the Clans part so soon. He had enjoyed meeting new cats, learning new ways of hunting different prey and the customs of the other Clans. Of course, it was better for WindClan to settle down as soon as possible to speed up the recovery process of his clanmates. Thankfully, there was time for another hunting patrol, which Sootstorm was to participate in with a SkyClan warrior, Stoatclaw. Sootstorm sat near the agreed meeting spot, under a tall oak tree, for the tom to arrive.

Though Stoatclaw hadn't been feeling well he was still healthy when compared to the rest of his clan. The sickness that had been spreading throughout the clans didn't seem to have hit him as hard as some, and as long as he was fit enough to walk he would be fit enough to hunt for his clan. That, and he wasn't a fan of sitting around so many cats. This small hunting patrol would give him a bit of relief for as long as they would be gone, but he still had to deal with the Windclanner that would accompany him. Stoatclaw didn't have a problem with the tom but something still felt off about being alone with another clan's warrior. He knew that Sootstorm probably wouldn't do anything to him, but he would keep an eye on the tom just in case.

A brown tail raised in greeting as Stoatclaw reached the meeting spot, stopping just a few tail-lengths in front of Sootstorm. "Hey, ready to set off?" Set off? Stars that sounded so idiotic. Only one sentence into this hunting patrol and Stoatclaw already wanted to retire.

Stoatclaw followed his new companion, wondering where exactly they would be going before the scent of rabbit filled his nose. He caught the Windclanner's look, and returned a questioning look of his own. Of course he knew how to hunt rabbits, it wasn't like they were any different from other prey. He had managed to catch one once, though that had been with the help of a couple branches. He had no such luxury here, but that didn't mean he would let it get away. Slowly the tom stalked through the high grasses following the scent of rabbit. As he grew closer however something distinct his his nose. Pain. Pain! The tom yelped and bounced back, a thorn protruding from his nose as a spiky ball tumbled through the grass toward him. Before the tom could cry for help a tail swiped at him, leaving more spines embedded in Stoatclaw's face. Stars he hated these things. A paw swiped out at the thorny creature earning Stoatclaw a couple more spines inbetween his claws. "Windclanner, help!" Stoatclaw hissed.
