It had taken a great deal of convincing herself to feel comfortable leaving her sister's side given the state she was in, but Mistflower had decided that she wanted to catch some prey to bring back to the sick SkyClan cats; and so she'd taken her leave for a little while. Not by herself, because she didn't like to be alone when she didn't feel safe--she liked being surrounded by her Clanmates, and often liked to remain mostly unseen, though she'd gotten a little better about that since receiving her warrior name.

"Okay... I know what I'm doing now," she murmured, very quietly and more to herself than any of the cats around her. "Nothing left to be afraid of that hasn't already happened."

She had meant to search for birds, what she was used to, but the first thing to catch her attention was the scent of rabbit. Well, a rabbit was much larger than a bird; and she wasn't just hunting for her sister, so she gave chase and hoped they wouldn't mind.

However, it got away from her quickly (well before she even had a chance to pounce), and she circled back to reconsider her options.

Mistflower failed to catch a Rabbit, costing 3 SP!

Closer, just a little closer... One paw after another Stoatclaw closed in on the fat little creature poking around the roots of a tree. Normally the tom wouldn't have started his search on the ground, but this rodent had been out in the open. Climbing a tree would have risked letting the rat go, so he was stuck to stalking like a normal cat. He was getting closer, but the rat started moving in a weird manner. Did it know he was approaching, could it smell the sickness? The warrior's nose began to tingle, and the thought of waiting for a perfect moment fled from his mind. As the tom leapt at the prey he let out a loud sneeze. The rat jumped at the noise, but before it could scurry off white paws cut its life short. Grabbing the creature by the tail Stoatclaw padded toward Mistflower, who had missed whatever it was she was trying to catch. Was that his fault? The tom shot her an apologetic look before he began burying his prey.

Mistflower offered a light flick of her tail--a signal for 'don't worry about it'--though she wasn't sure if Stoatclaw had caught it or not. Rabbits were apparently beyond her skill level. That was fair: she was many things, but none of them were WindClan. No cat laying eyes on her large, bulky frame would mistake her for a moor-runner; even when she did what she could to blur into the background and avoid being the center of attention.

Squirrels? She could probably catch squirrels. That was solidly SkyClan prey. And Stoneheart, sick as she was, would surely appreciate her favorite food freshly caught.

"Let's try this again... You just stay over there and let me catch you, okay?"

She felt a little silly, whispering to herself, but it wasn't really any stranger than usual.
