Truth by told, Cindersky was dreading this. The weather was cold and damp, and although she didn't mind the wet, the water still clinging to her paws and fur made it hard to keep warm with little food in her body. The mist was welcome all the same-- It had been some time since they could drink freely. It kept her grounded somewhat, kept her rooted in lieu of the fear that was trying to shake her. She was comfortable with Poppyshine-- The deputy was going to be there, so it would be less scary. Except, a WindClan and ShadowClan cat was coming along. She did not know who, and although they were truced, it did little to comfort her. "How far are we going out?" She asked, lifting her head from its down-trodden position to glance at the calico fur she had all but glued herself to. Her claws were flexed into the ground, in and out and in and out. She had found that it was comforting, digging them in and feeling the cold soil and back out again. Sometimes it took effort and she got to focus on it. It had taken over her habit of excessive grooming-- Her pelt was duller in sheen than before and a bit more unkempt, but not horrendously so. "The others are joining us soon, I think-- I asked a couple cats and some of them agreed. I... Don't know what their names were, though."
She also wouldn't admit that she was relying on the scents. The damp and earthy, marshy ShadowClan scent and the WindClan scent of moor and a morning-air. She hoped that they had heard her and taken her seriously. Did she speak loud enough to ask them? She couldn't remember.

When a RiverClan she-cat (Cinder...sight? Sky? He couldn't remember her name clearly) asked Rookfire if he wanted to help scout the territory ahead, he instantly agreed. Scouting parties involving different clans helped give different opinions, which would help all of them when it came to traversing the path ahead.
Noticing her and a calico she-cat - was that RiverClan's deputy? - talking with each other, the black tuxedo padded towards them. "Made it," he grinned, nodding at the RiverClan she-cat who invited him. "Is anyone else coming?"

Poppyshine
It was a brisk, early morning, and while the chill clung to her pelt, Poppyshine tried her best to still be upbeat and happy. She saw this scouting mission as something of an adventure; they got to see a new part of the world that they would not otherwise, and they were assisting the clans in the process.
“Not too far,” she promised Cindersky. “We don’t want to get far from the main group. Probably as far as the travel from RiverClan to Fourtrees. We’ll see what lies ahead and then report back to the five leaders of the clans so they can know what to expect in the coming trip.”
Poppyshine turned when one of the cats arrived. She smiled warmly at him; based on his scent, he was from ShadowClan. “Hello! Thank you for joining us. We have a WindClan cat joining us soon as well, and then we can set off.”

Kestrelchirp padded at a brisk speed - he didn't want to be late. Soon, the small group of cats to lead this scouting patrol came into view. Joining up with them, not even out of breath, Kestrelchrip came to a halt and dipped his head to them. Poppyshine was there - he recognized her from Gatherings. "Hello, I'm sorry I'm late." He said in his smooth voice. Straightening up, he glanced around to take inventory of his companions.
"When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire."

The unfamiliar scents of WindClan and ShadowClan made her fur stand on end. She did not intend it-- They were truced, no harm should befall any of them-- but she wasn't accustomed to dealing with cats from other clans. The Gathering was different, it was brief. But still, this wasn't as bad as she expected.
"Hello, you two," Cindersky dipped her head. "What are your names again? I don't want to have to call you by 'ShadowClan cat' or 'WindClan cat'." She smiled crookedly. It was a flat attempt at humour.
"Will we stick to a straight line?" She proposed, turning on her heels and beginning to move the procession forward. Her question was, by habit, directed at Poppyshine, but with a quick correction she jumped her eyes between the other two. "We could do markers, too. But I think a straight line is least likely to get us lost."

Poppyshine
Poppyshine smiled in greeting to the WindClan cat that joined them. She assured him, “You’re not late, so no worries.” She looked to Cindersky and nodded appreciatively when she asked for names. She added, “While we’re sharing them, I’m Poppyshine and this is Cindersky.”
When Cindersky asked about how they will proceed, Poppyshine looked out at the wilderness ahead of them. “That’s a good point. We will want to find the easiest path ahead for a large group to go through, but we should keep as straight as we can.” She looked to the other two for their input as well.
