A lone leaf caught in the struggle (c)

Mosspaw felt lonely and alone. Scorchpaw, her best friend since kithood, hadn't talked to her for what felt like moons. She slumped in the apprentice den, munching on a toad, a look of dismay on her face. She didn't want to hunt. She just wanted to lay in that position forever. She wouldn't move.

"Scorchpaw hates me.. she should just admit it!"

she muttered.

"and she hasn’t talked to me for weeks!"

she shuffled her paws. Ever since Scorchkit became Scorchpaw, she had ignored Moss, and Mosspaw thought it was just apprentice duties. But when Mosspaw became an apprentice, Scorchpaw definitely still had time to spare for her! She grumbled while grooming herself, hoping Scorchpaw would soon enter the apprentice den for only a small friendly chat. Misery was all around her.
