Pineblossom
Pineblossom was half convinced that something would go wrong before her kits were old enough to leave the nursery and actually explore the camp, but they all grew up healthily and steadily until that day came. She tended to them daily, spoke with them, and told them stories even if they were asleep and resting against her belly. Pineblossom wanted them to know about the clan and how beautiful it is to live here, even when things are hard.
“Do not run off,” Pineblossom instructed her kits as they ventured to the nursery. “Many warriors and apprentices are still doing their jobs, and I don’t want you getting in their way. Wolf, keep close with me now.” Though they hadn’t actually left the nursery yet, she had noticed how Wolfkit has already grown up to be a little bit of a troublemaker; appropriate for the strength of his name.
Wolfkit trailed out after his siblings, narrowing his eyes at the sudden change in light and turning his head up to his mother. The tips of his dark pelt seemed honey in the sun, surrounding him in a halo much too golden for him. His four siblings hurried past him, no doubt to enjoy everything that was new. Scents, sights, sensations. He was stuck here. He let out a gruff in response to his mother, rolling his eyes in slight with gritted teeth.
"I won't get under their paws," He grumbled. "And if they're doing what their job is good enough, they won't be close enough to step on me." He licked his lips and with that little quirk of a grin that was tell-tale of him thinking something no doubt nefarious, whether it be planting a spider in Fernkits side of the nest, or attempting to tell Hedgekit the most outlandish story to make sure she couldn't sleep at night without hiding against their mother. It was fun, sometimes; "If they step on me, I will bite them. Om." He snapped his teeth quickly to mimic it, showing a rapid flash of those teeth he was named for.
Silverpaw had largely avoided the nursery since Pineblossom's temporary retirement to the den. He tried to visit once, just to see if she was settling well into the haunted space, but an errant queen who's name he hadn't cared to remember chased him off. She'd been sleeping at the time, or something like that. Well, he didn't want to be in the nursery anyway. Whatever. He would linger outside the den when he had time to spare, but he kept his distance until the kits came. And eventually, they did-- alive, breathing, screaming. They were ugly when they were small, but they'd gotten big fast; they were almost looking like real cats by now. Soon, they'd be old enough to leave the nursery. Until then, Silverpaw had taken up a more formal post outside: he laid outside the nursery regularly, keeping adamant watch over his new siblings when he didn't have his own duties to attend to.
He lay there now, battering at Hawkpaw's ears (Silverpaw had forced him to sit with him, but now he'd grown bored and was trying to see how quickly he could get Pigeon to wheel around and nip at him). And as if on cue, just as his thoughts wandered to her Pineblossom's voice came accompanied by several smaller ones. Silverpaw sat upright immediately, mission of mischief abandoned, spinning around to grin at the little troupe as they came parading out of the nursery. He got to his paws and padded over to cut them off as they each came spilling out of the den, butting his head against Pineblossom's shoulder before looking down at the sound of Wolfkit grumbling. Silverpaw reached out to press Wolfkit to the ground, holding him down with a gentle paw. "I'm stepping on you," he said teasingly. "But you'll make Pineblossom mad if you bite me, so I guess you're stuck."
Hedgekit was of two minds about this whole leaving-the-nursery business. On one paw, the outside world was big and wide. There were a million million cats in it, and sometimes all the smells she caught from the very edge of the nursery's entrance made her shudder at their sheer intensity. On the other paw... all the rest of her family was going. She had yet to really meet their fabled older brother Silverpaw. And besides, she knew that her brothers were all excited to see the rest of camp. So it was that Hedgekit, looking almost shadowlike as she faded into her mother's side, dark brown fur meshing with its identical shade, trotted out with the rest of her family into ShadowClan proper. Tiny white paws made one step, then two, and then stopped when they saw a far larger paw before them. Deep green eyes blinked once, twice. Then Hedgekit looked up.
"Oh!" she squeaked, her gaze traveling up and up and up a dark gray and black body until they finally reached a pair of eyes, green like hers, but a lighter shade. This tom was...? Who was a cat she didn't know whose getting-hurt-by-Wolfkit would make Mama Pineblossom upset? The wheels turned in her head rather slowly. But eventually, she ventured a guess. "Are you... Silverpaw?" Hedgekit asked, tilting her head to the side in the way she often saw her brothers do. "Big brother?" A shy, sweet smile crept onto her face at the thought.
Swiftheart's tail drooped as she had a long night with ZERO luck hunting, she had been out for awhile and nothing was catchable. She didn't remember the last time she had returned to camp empty pawed so frequently. This was beginning to trouble her even with her optimistic outlook, it just was not looking good.
Getting back into camp she felt pretty unsure and not optimistic of what the future held.
The squeal of kits did however brighten her day as soon all sorts of blurs of fur seemed to be running all about.
She smiled her thoughts of the current trouble fleeing almost immedietly. She gave a loud purr and flicked her tail back and forth so visibly excited and happy to see them all walking around and out of the nursery!
Swiftheart, although one of the longest serving warriors in the whole clan was still very young at heart and often had the energy and excitment of that of a kit or apprentice herself.
"ohh hello hello!" she purred so happily waving her tail to all of them.
Silverpaw and Wolf were already roughhousing and she gave a little eyeroll ... but it did look pretty fun in all honesty! She loved getting to play with kits and they had grown up so fast since she last saw them!

Bluekit had been exited to leave the place, at last the fated day had come. He would get to get to explore the camp mother talked about so much! He walked around a bit soaking in all the pretty colors. He heard his mother say to not run-off, that meant he could walk-off right? So, he did, not hearing anything else she said. He walked over to the nearest big cat and gave their leg a hug. Would he let go? Probably not. “Hewo” he said to the cat. “How’s it goin'?” He held on tighter not wanting to accidentally fall.

Swiftheart purred as a kit approached her. She looked curiously at him as he greeted her in return. Her heart practically melted in joy as he hugged at her leg his tiny fluffy paws hanging on. It was pure cuteness overload and she clearly showed her joy smiling from ear to ear as she looked at the little fluff ball.
She glanced at pine blossom and winked pointing with her tail as if to say ‘awww are you seeing this?’
She gently wrapped her tail round the kit to hug him back. Hmm so wolf was the rambunctious one, blue seemed to be the snuggly one.
She hoped that she would get to play all sorts of games with them soon. But would let pine determine when such activities would occur.
Hmm it’s going much better now. Pretty good. She answered the kittens question

A dogish grin formed on the young kittens face as he saw the shape of Silverpaw trotting over. A playmate, someone who may save him from his mothers vile clutches. Perhaps, someone who would empathise with his wants and bring him places. Somewhere away from here so that he could--
"Uff-" The wind was knocked out of him before he could raise his tiny-kitten voice to greet him. Wolfkit let out a sharp hiss, squirming under his older brothers paw. "Get off of me!" He howled, needle-like claws slinking out of their sheathes but as much as he squirmed and flailed he could not find purchase. "Get off or I'll eat you! I don't care what Mama--" He stopped before he finished the sentence, clearly knowing better than to bring it to completion. "Move!"
Stagkit was the last to leave the nursery, the youngest sibling but certainly not the smallest - his shoulders were wide and hinted at how massive the kitten would be in the future. If his shoulders weren't any indication of how big he would be, his paws certainly were, they were large, big, clunky and just totally in his way. But it didn't bother him all that much. 'Sides. Mama said its only a now thing. Not a forever thing. Soon enough he would grow into these big ole things. He was sure of it.
If it weren't for the goofy grin on his maw and his tongue slipping out of his jaw like a dog, the kitten was a fierce looking thing. His fur was long, luscious and meticulously groomed. You could tell he cared about his appearance despite the carefree expression.
Stagkit waited for Hedgekit to exit, her momentary hesitation not getting lost on him but she was in good hands and they were in camp after all. Shrugging he pushed forward watching Wolfkit scamper into the clearing and right into the paws of the big silvery tom. Stagkit simply had to have his nose in the action. The brown fluff of a kitten bolstered his way into the scuffle aiming to clamp his jaws playfully onto..who? As if his sister had heard his mental question, she spoke his name. Silverpaw. Yes! Brother Silverpaw! A worthy opponent for his fierce teeth. The cries of his brother were not ignored, Stagkit clamped his teeth harder. "Het go uff my brother!" he yowled. Yes! A battle-cry! Beautifully executed too! His bite weakened as he grinned to himself, his tail lashing in excitement. Surely Mama was proud of his fierce attack and protection of his brother.

Fernkit gave his mother an understanding nod before trodding along with his siblings, keeping his gaze watchful for warriors and apprentices as he entered the large hollow called Shadowclan Camp. He hoped to watch one of his clanmates hunt, or at least bring back rats and birds. Speaking of which- what was that? A few mouthfuls of animals bundled in the center of the clearing, likely the fabled fresh-kill pile. Fernkit slightly cocked his head to the side. I thought it would be bigger. Was that truly all of the clan’s food? Or just an easy-to-access source while the rest was stored elsewhere?
Something tall suddenly approached, and Fernkit blinked his dark mossy gaze up at an unknown cat towering above him and his siblings. The tom-kit froze, his eyes wide open with uncertainty, especially as the bigger tom captured Wolfkit beneath a single paw. Who are you? Why are you bullying him? Hedgekit was the first to figure out the stranger’s identity. One glance at the adults confirmed her guess: Silverpaw, she said while regarding him as a big brother- big was certainly accurate. Fernkit rewarded his sister's clever deductions with a brief smile.
The pale-freckled tom-kit carefully contemplated his older brother's behavior. Was he trying to play, intimidate, or simply get Wolfkit in trouble? It was a bit unclear whether he meant actual harm or not, so Fernkit found his brothers’ bites and hisses justified. Usually, actions were more effective than words. So even if this is Silverpaw’s weird way of playfighting he will likely realize his error and the problem should resolve itself, the kitten figured. Now I can continue exploring-
Fernkit's dark tabby fur remained bristled when a second adult cat appeared, her pelt as white as his facial markings. Perhaps she too was a relative? He watched in surprise as his final brother Bluekit walked right up to her, so comfortable with her presence that he would hug her leg. And she let him! Fernkit was unsure why some cats performed such affectionate gestures so easily, especially when they'd only just met. Who even was she?
As Swiftheart looked to Pineblossom, so did he. Confusement and questions stormed his head, hovering over his tongue. The distressed kitten walked up to his mother and pawed at her to gain her attention. “Mother,” he asked quietly while pointing to the white she-cat, “Who is she? Why are she and Bluekit hugging?” It was much easier to consult his trusted mother for this information, rather than ask the stranger directly like some of his littermates might.

It was nice to see Silverpaw ready to see the kits when they left the nursery. He had not come to visit too often, but she could not blame him, considering that he lost his own mother in that nursery a handful of moons ago. It was still nice of him to come and see them now; even better to see the kits recognize his name. They could finally get to know their big brother for real.
“Hello Swiftheart,” Pineblossom greeted with a warm purr when the warrior came to greet them as well. Bluekit already seemed to take a liking to her, but he was sweet with everyone, so seeing him hug her was not too out of the ordinary.
It seemed she could not keep her attention split for too long though, before Wolfkit started making a fuss. Pineblossom said, “Silverpaw, don’t tease your brother too much. Wolfkit, remember to say please if you would like someone to do something; especially your brother. You can’t go around shouting for what you want.” She was then swift to lock her teeth onto Stagkit’s scruff and gently pull him off of Silverpaw and back under her own paws. When his fur was out of her mouth, she said, “Stagkit, we do not use claws or teeth against clanmates. Thank you for protecting Wolf, but Silverpaw is no threat.” She licked the top of his head and then let him go again. This was sure to be a tiring day.
She looked down when Fernkit settled close to her. She replied, “This is Swiftheart. She is one of the senior warriors of this clan. She’s been an important warrior since I was your age.” Pineblossom smiled at Swiftheart. “It seems Bluekit is feeling affectionate.”
