Mistwalker had felt the slow cool beginning to creep into Riverclan's territory as of recent times. A large part of her appreciated it. It meant there was no need to feel so excessively dragged down by the thick layers of her pelt, or to attempt to manage all of them, only for them to grow fluffier with humidity seeming to weigh down each tuft. On the other paw, though, it meant that prey would soon be hiding to find warmth. Not every element of their lives had such a fondness of the slightly colder weather, and Mistwalker had been aware of that. It was what had called her to make such a large hunting party, to attempt to grab a plethora of fish before greenleaf's true end.

Egretswoop had deemed it safe to join, too. Her fox-pelt was safely wrapped around her, the safety in hiding giving her the confidence to join the other warrior on patrol. She'd found appreciation in the silver-and-white feline's presence.

So both made their way into the heart of the territory, settling at a position along the river. "Call out any predators. We shall not risk any injuries out of an inflated sense of pride." Mistwalker's call was sharp. She'd had too many failed hunting incidents for her tastes.

But with the necessary call made, it was time to hunt. Adept, swift hunters in their own right... it was easy to begin catching the silver-scaled creatures that dared swim by.

Duckpaw's tail swished back and forth in excitement - it was one of their good days as they padded after Mistwalker and Egretswoop. Hunting was one of their favorite activities...if only because it was so low effort that they could manage it even when they were feeling sleepy...Even if they didn't really understand why some days were tiring and others, like today, was just fine. They knew they ought to see Sandyshell but there was always a hope it would just...Sort itself out and they wouldn't have to admit it was a problem. It would stop sooner or later, wouldn't it...?

Ah, but it was hardly the time to dwell on that when there was fishing to be done. They nodded at Mistwalker's order - they weren't stupid enough to take a predator on their own and they hoped none of their hunting partners were either. The two warriors also quickly caught prey of their own and there was a sense of excitement at trying to match their skill as Duckpaw took to the bank next to them, staring down at the river until a fish shadow passed by. A swift paw later, they were hauling up a fish of their own with a content purr.

Having heard the summons of the patrol just a touch later than her peers, Murkypaw had heeded the call to come hunt. That incessant need to continue proving herself to her clan had ran deep, and this would be an easy way to continue to do so. Following the warriors and apprentices that trailed out at the very rear of the group, she waited for the more experienced to pick their places before she did. Truthfully, she tried to pick the most challenging place. She yearned for the challenge in her claws, to take the most difficult pieces of prey for her own taking.

She watched as clanmates already began swiping fish from the waters, just as she herself would hopefully do so, too. As the ripples obscured her vision, the amber eyes narrowed, before a paw struck into the water with the swiftness of the lethal warrior she still was. Her claws hooked beneath the fish's gill, pulling it to shore and ending its life swiftly. It would be one of many catches she intended on bringing back that day, but the lowest flicker of pride glowed in the depths of the otherwise silent embers of her chest.

Sprucebark had followed a ways behind working to catch up he arrived he purred enthused seeing all the progress his clanmates already had with this. He was glad to see Duckpaw out and about and hoped to also get to know them this way.
"Good catches" he meowed.


from the distance he had heard mistwalkers order and nodded glancing around to be sure nothing was coming at them from their flanks.

"I'll keep look out, try and make sure nothing gets us from behind?" he offered.
