It'd been a few moons since SkyClan's last pair of warrior ceremonies. The lull felt strange, when Birdstar actually thought about it, after the constant rotation of ceremonies through new-leaf and early green-leaf. But more apprentices were preparing for their Moonstones, or had already made the journey and were only waiting for final approval; one of them ready to take her vow today. A bright spot amidst the recent darkness. Birdstar looked across camp from upon the Tallbranch, searching briefly for the young molly in question, before raising her voice to call out, "All cats old enough to climb the trees, gather below the Tallbranch for a Clan meeting."
Anxiety was perhaps the closest description to what she felt as Birdstar called the summons in camp. There was a chance that it would be her warrior ceremony, and in preparation, she had spent what felt like an agonizing amount of time preparing her pelt. It was to the point that she couldn't decide if her tongue was numb or throbbing. A badger could cut out her tongue and she probably wouldn't have felt it given how exhausted she was, and any attempt to form words was just leaving her jaw sore. So she had taken to being particularly quiet, saving her weary muscles to be used when she had to take her hopeful oath. Of course, there was still a chance it wouldn't be her ceremony. There was no given.
So, in reverence the silver molly found her spot amongst the crowd. Her green eyes that had given her the name she bore found their way to the top of the Tallbranch, curiosity and hope dancing in them like vibrant lights of the evening.
Stormwatcher just got back from a hunt when he heard the meeting call. Dropping off what he had caught at fresh kill pile he went over to see what was going on.
If this had been Stormwatcher from a couple moons ago he would have been asleep napping lazily and probably would have just slept through the meeting as well to be honest. But he was actually changed quite a lot from then, he was active alot more, getting to know his clanmates, and being better at not being so lazy.
He had sparred more to keep his skills sharp ever since that fox attack, he had done more hunting and providing ever since he and Patchdream and littleflower and stonehart became good friends.
He glanced around wondering what all this was about though. He was pretty worried it was something else bad, it always seemed to be something bad. Between the fox attack and the murders that had happened it wasnt outlandish to believe something else had gone terribly wrong too now.
It didn't look like there was many of his clanmates here yet and the only one here was a silver she-cat who he didnt even know. His older 'sisters' words echoed in his mind about how he should talk to more of his clanmates.
yeah yeah wolfblossom probably should... but I dont wanna he thought to himself. Wolf had been right, getting to know others had helped him a lot but why did skyclan gotta be so big anyways? The natural introvert wasn't sure where to sit and hoped someone he knew would show up soon to save him the awkwardness of these dreaded social situations (he always had been a bit awkward but in a good way kinda)
He sat next to the silver she-cat who he didnt even know the name of "erm, hello. I'm stormwatcher" he introduced himself
Introductions are always so weird... I feel like I always mess them up... this is so not good... It would be easier if another fox attack happened right now to break the weirdness of this. At least then I wouldn't have to meet anyone new. he thought pessimistically.

The apprentice she was waiting on joined the crowd soon, preened like she'd been expecting this. Birdstar held Mintpaw's eyes when she found them, tilting her head forward in a subtle nod of acknowledgment. Her attention lingered around the apprentice while she watched the Clan gather, watching as Stormwatcher settled close by, seemingly attempting to talk. Sorry, Birdstar thought with a dull flicker of amusement, for interrupting your conversation. Moving forward on the branch, she looked squarely at the soon-to-be warrior. "Mintpaw, please step forward." She called down, beckoning with her tail. When she'd done so, Birdstar continued, "StarClan, I call upon you to look down on this apprentice. She's trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn. Mintpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
As the unfamiliar tom took his place beside her, she was less than shy in the conversation. Turning her head to him and giving a big grin, her tail stirred behind her. It picked up a few flecks of dirt that hadn't quite been packed into the rest of the earth of camp, but none that truly sullied her hard work. "Hi! I'm-" "Mintpaw," Just as she had been about to say her name, Birdstar called it out instead. With her kind grin turning into a sheepish smile, she had no other choice but to turn towards her leader. It snapped her out of her thoughts, though, and the adrenaline hit her much harder than she had anticipated it to. With her ears flashing all the way backwards in apology, she took her steps forward, moving towards the front of the crowd.
With her heart pounding in her chest, the words recited almost felt like a muddled noise. Even as she fought to commit them to memory, it was almost impossible. But that didn't stop the grin, or the excitement, or the way she practically wanted to rear up onto her hind legs with glee. Thankfully, all four paws stayed on the ground. "Yes, I do." How she hadn't managed to have her voice crack, she had no clue. But thankfully, it didn't. It stayed steady.
Mintpaw rounded to address the summons with a look of pure delight. There was no hesitation in her vow. The enthusiasm radiating off her warmed some of the recent chill that had lodged in Birdstar's heart, and there was a glimmer of fondness in the depths of her eyes. Bowing her head again, she announced, "Then I grant you your new name as a warrior. From this day on, you will be known to all as Mintglade. SkyClan honors your kindness and refreshing personality." Leaping down from the Tallbranch, Birdstar crossed the short distance to touch her nose to the top of Mintglade's head. After a brief moment, she pulled away and quietly said, "May your vigil be peaceful. Congratulations," before stepping away to let the crowd cheer.
It sounded soft on her tongue. Unique, just slightly sharp, but overall, it was soft. Something new. Something that was all hers. Her mind hardly registered the way Birdstar rested her nose atop her skull, the silver tabby having dipped her head in reverence as her mind caught up with it all. What never wavered was the grin that flashed her canine teeth, the soreness in her jaw having instantly been forgotten. Her entire body might as well have been vibrating with the joy that she felt coursing through her. "Thank you." When had she said that? At some point, Mintglade had spoken. It didn't register.
Her first thought, however, was to spin around and dart right towards her mentor. Beechfang. Or, well, former mentor now it seemed. "I did it!" Her family was gone, and so that left the scarred molly as the only one left that she felt was anywhere resembling that f-word. "Thank you. For... for it all. I... Can I keep learning from you, though? Please?"
Stormwatcher was pleasantly suprised. Finally a good meeting. Oh, and it was for mint paw now glade he learned seconds later.
Congrats! Mint glade! he cheered for the newest warrior in their clan.

Beechfang had expected the meeting after conversation with Birdstar, and it seemed her apprentice was half-expecting it, a quiet bundle of nerves. She had gone to the moonstone recently, and that was traditionally the last hurdle to warriorhood for an apprentice. Beechfang sat quietly at the edge of the gathering crowd, a weary smile finding it's way onto her face as Mintpaw received her warrior name, Mintglade.
Ceremony complete, the battle-scarred tabby padded forward, greeting her apprentice with a dip of her head. "You trained hard, Mintglade, and have earned this. Congratulations." She mewed, stepping back quickly to allow the rest of the clan to celebrate with their newest warrior.
