Nettlepaw liked everything about his new life as an apprentice so far. The den, the new cats, the newfound freedom. Quite frankly, loved, particularly the freedom. He had gone from tucked away, sick, to now able to, technically, go wherever his paws could take him; he couldn’t help but excitedly bounce around camp, desperate to explore more of the territory.
There was one thing he wanted, however. Friends. Or cats his age to talk to, at the very least. There hadn’t been much time to make them, though he was determined now. The den was full of apprentices larger than himself, all kits of those strange cats that had joined their ranks. He had stared at them from afar, in awe of their size; he had thought himself large for his age when their kits had appeared. They were interesting, even if they were half-Clan— a term he’d heard some older warriors mutter. It sounded like a cruel term, particularly with the way he heard them say it; Nettlepaw had not been raised with particular cruelty planted in his head, their tone unfamiliar. If they ever got invaded, or needed to fight, they would win for sure!
He recanted tales of the forest in his mind as he stood up from the sun trap he had been sprawled, his paws itching with the need to explore. The ginger apprentice bounced towards the apprentice den, standing at the entrance.
“Hey,” Nettlepaw announced to no one in particular, a grin plastered to his face, “any of you up for an adventure? I’m thinking of heading into the forest.”
