For a brief moment Perchstar paused, glancing over Sprucebark to make sure he was not actually hurt, just winded. It seemed that he was only dazed, though, so she continued the attack. Claws sheathed, she battered him again with a paw, smacking his shoulder and then readying herself for the next blow.

Perchstar used Front Paw Strike, dealing 12 (10+2) damage and costing 7 stamina. Sprucebark is no longer stunned.

Sprucebark shook his head clearing the stars that seemed to be spinning.  He really did want to make this as hard as possible for Perchstar cause he wanted her to be ready as ever for whatever they may face in the future!

And evidently... she felt the same way! Good stars she was not easy to get at all! She musta had more practice spars than anyone else in the whole clan!

"Imma get you Auntie Perchstar!" he meowed crouching low over his front paws getting into his ready position.


He was so focused on the spar he didnt even realize he called her Auntie, it just felt so correct and besides, thats what mum said she was like to them anyways.  Rowan, Sandy and him were all her nieces and nephews.  He didn't really know if Perchstar agreed with such statement but he was so focused right now he didnt even notice he had said it in the firstest place.


"hiyaaaa! he meowed jumping up and at her sailing thorough the air like a majestic bumblebee  


He managed to get hold of her scruff and gripped it tightly with his hold and shook her about.  He was very careful not to actually hurt her, it was more so just a contolling move and she couldnt hit at him so easy this way!

Eww... he got a hair in his mouth but he tried to focus as if it were a real battle.  He couldnt lose focus like that if it was some stinky skyclanner attacking them now could he!??

Perchstar kept her battle-ready position, ears pinned low, watching for any movement that Sprucebark would make. However, he did what was perhaps the only thing that could have caught her off-guard. Auntie... Perchstar? The word felt unfamiliar landing in her mind, and it caused her to stop and blink for a second. Poppyshine had joked when her kits were first born that Perchstar would be their unofficial aunt. But none of them had ever really called her that, in her remembrance anyway. But that moment of hesitation was what let Sprucebark get behind her and grab her scruff in his teeth. She couldn't quite reach him easily--at the moment, all she could do was buffet him with a paw and twist slightly, readying herself for if he let go or tried something different. It had been a good move. He certainly knew what he was doing.

Perchstar used Front Paw Blow, dealing 9 (7+2) damage and costing 5 stamina.

Sprucebark had to let go of the grip that was already slipping, it was a good move but it was hard to hold the taller leader by her scruff for much longer than he had already managed.

He was doing everything he could think of but nothing really seemed to be working long term to get her pushed back, she was always one pawstep ahead it appeared.

He didn't really even expect that move would work or catch her so off guard and was only vaguely aware that it was to due with what he had called her but whether that fully registered with him was hard to say.
He was starting to feel the spar get to him, the later the practice got the more he really felt like this was the practice he needed. Pushing one another to the edge of what they could do while exhausting might one day save their lives in a battle. It was not very often that the very orderly tom ever even considered quitting but once she got free from that hold he wasn't sure how much he could keep the spar going either way.

Pawing at her he tried to slow his pace not wanting to over-push any more.

His strikes were noticeably slower/weaker at this point

Thankfully, their spar had been going on for long enough that they had both begun to tire. However, her stamina perhaps was a little better than his, because as he backed away and smacked her with a single paw, she was able to twist completely from his grip and control her staggered breathing. She could hide her incoming exhaustion, and if she could keep going for just a little while longer, then perhaps she could end it. Taking advantage of his sluggishness, she reared up on her hind legs to bring two paws down on his head--gently enough that it wouldn't hurt, but with enough force to knock him to the ground.

Perchstar used Upright Lock, dealing 14 (12+2) damage and costing 10 stamina.

His slugishness and tired movments bit back hard as she quickly had caught him with a very strong move crashing paws against his head.

He staggered back to his paws but felt the world a bit dizzy.

He widened his stance stabalizing himself and felt the adrenaline spike, he knew he would soon be knocked out of this but while he still was able he did not want to leave anything on the set.  This was after all to make them both ready as possible.

It was not common for either of them to face another cat as experienced as each of them were.

He went for anything he could at this point deciding he would try and go out big since this seemed near lost anyways, He had to teach her that opponents might not give up easily either, real battles were ugly and terrible and the more they could practice in this safe environment the less likely they would ever have to weep the others death.

He dove under her paws trying to go for a long shot.

Well that was a horrible idea, he probably should not have gone for a move that required so much accuracy right after his head had just been hit.

He instead found himself right under her front paws now and if this were a real battle she could just flex her claws out and his throat would be slit.

He panted heavily exhausted from this.


Sprucebark is -4 hp and clearly is not able to fight any more

He looked at his position and gave a little sigh... "I'd be dead if this was real huh?" he asked quietly.

Perchstar stood up straight, breathing heavily, waiting for the next blow--but it never came. She'd overestimated Sprucebark just slightly, it seemed. He'd done a good job of keeping his exhaustion hidden. A bit too much energy put into one lunge and he lay sprawled out beneath her paws. The look in his eyes conveyed that he knew this was finished. In response, she reached out and gently bapped the top of his head with her paw, before climbing slowly off of him and sitting down nearby. Now that she could show it... she was tired, too. She'd taken a beating.

At his words, the leader shook her head. "Not dead, no. The code says that warriors do not kill except when necessary. Though I suppose if you were a murderer or some other threat, then yes--I would have neutralized you there. But I don't relish the thought." His praise didn't cause much of a visual reaction other than the twitch of her tail, but inwardly she appreciated it. A slight warm stirring within her chest. Strange as it was to say... she'd never gotten much praise, let alone for her battle skills. It felt oddly nice to be acknowledged. But she ignored the sensation. "You did remarkably well yourself," Perchstar told him with a nod of respect. "It's good to know that your claws will be in use protecting RiverClan, should anything happen to me. They will be safe with warriors like you to defend them."
