Nothing but warmth seemed to beam from the leader's frame as she made her way towards the Highrock. So many kits were earning their apprentice names, it was impossible for her not to feel some semblance of giddiness. Even with the loss and stress that had seemed to fracture its way through Thunderclan lands as of recent time, Mottlestar always found joy that came in stride with a cat entering a new phase of their life. Whether it be a kit to an apprentice, or an apprentice gaining their warrior name, it always brought her glee. Today would be no different, especially as she found her way atop the familiar stone.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"
Wigglekit emerged from the nursery, his pelt messy and covered in bits of bracken and moss. He shook himself, dislodging the worst of the debris, and bounded toward the center of the camp, eyes wide with curiosity. He had seen his fair share of ceremonies, and, if he understood things correctly, he and his littermates should be the topic of some ceremonies soon. With an excited glint in his dark eyes, the spotted kit skidded to a halt beside some cat, his attention fixed on Mottlestar.
"So exciting!" He meowed to no cat in particular. One of the nearby warriors glanced at him, displeasure evident in their expression at the sound of the feral language he and many of the other kits spoke. Wigglekit, naturally, didn't notice, his tail lashing back and forth with pure enthusiasm. The movement made his body - true to his name - wiggle slightly from the force of it.
In the back of his mind, Wigglekit wished that this was about him - the other kits were leaving the nursery one by one, faster than he had imagined, and though the extra space was nice, he just wanted to explore! Wigglekit wanted to travel the lands beyond the camp, maybe even beyond Thunderclan's territory!
He could imagine it now, him, with some trusted friends at his side, taking on all manner of beasts and learning the lay of the land. Oh, speaking of, was that fancy Starclan cave thing off limits or was anyone allowed inside? He'd heard of apprentices going on long journeys there, so it couldn't be particularly taboo. Not that Wigglekit wanted to go to speak with the fabled Starclan, he wasn't even sure if the warrior ancestors were real - he was simply curious.

She watched as her clan gathered together. It warmed her heart to see so many kits earning their apprentice names, and she felt no reason to delay the ceremony any further. "Thunderclan, we are here to welcome yet another apprentice. Wigglekit, step forward please." She'd spotted him as the rest of her clanmates had gathered.
"You have reached the age of six moons old, and as is your birthright in Thunderclan, it is time for you to be apprenticed. Until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Wigglepaw, and I trust Cloudychase to be your mentor. For he knows much, and will be able to teach you well."

Wigglepaw
Gender: Male Rank: Apprentice
("Feral Language") ("Forest Language")
Wigglekit stared up at Mottlestar, his paws tip-tapping away with the boundless energy that coursed through his body. The moment the word apprentice, followed by his name, met his ears, the tom leapt to his paws, jaws agape. It was his turn! It was finally happening! He nodded enthusiastically and didn't so much as step forward as he did run forward. He stopped at the center of the gathered cats, his pelt prickling with a mixture of relief and joy. He wasn't going to be left alone in the nursery!
The first time he heard his new name, it seemed foreign to him, Wigglepaw...it wasn't too different from his old name, but it seemed more important...more...exciting! Wigglepaw! It wasn't intimidating or cool, but he didn't care, it was his and that was all that mattered! He dipped his head to Mottlestar almost as an afterthought and spun around, searching the cats for Cloudychase. Admittedly, Wigglepaw didn't know many of the warriors very well if at all...but that was about to change!
He would make every cat in the clan his friend and they would all explore together! Grinning, Wigglepaw glanced back at Mottlestar, his head high. "Weel be best apprendice!" The large spotted apprentice grimaced slightly; he would have to work on his forest language. It hadn't seemed important before, but after only understanding part of Mottlestar's speech, he realized that he had been naive to believe so.
The clan's language was...odd. He often struggled to wrap his mind around the pronunciations and it certainly showed. No matter, there were more important things to focus on - learning the language of Thunderclan was his least concern. He would get to leave the camp, explore, hunt, and fight! Oh, he would fight all of the things!

With one kit now an apprentice, it seemed as though another from Hank's litter would follow swiftly. This time, the cat to call the clan forward was Mottlestar, or Motherstar, as Hank had taken to calling the little tortoiseshell. Wigglekit was excited, and Aurelia smiled softly at hearing their own language spoken by someone other than Sleet and Hank, though she noted the displeasure that some of the warriors held for what they didn't understand.
Aurelia watched from the edge of the nursery as Wigglekit was bestowed the rank of apprentice, and with it a new mentor - Cloudychase. Strange names for strange cats, though the trio of feral cats had given them similar names to better fit in with the culture they were half part of. She would be watching their training closely, and hoped that none of their kits would forget the roots from where they came.

Another of her kits had become a mentor! In a flash, Blazefang was at Cloudychase’s side. “Congratulations, son,” she purred. “If you ever need any tips, come find me, kay? Your ma’s an old pro at mentoring.”
Cloudychase had been surprised, but pleased, as his name was called. The only reason Copperlark had been chosen as a mentor before him was because of his missing eye. Otherwise, he would have gotten his own apprentice ages ago. But, with his skills, it was only a matter of time. The fluffy white tom made his way to the front of the crowd, careful to keep his missing eye facing away from the crowd. The large tom padded up to Wrigglepaw, tail flicking delightfully as he stood taller than the spotted tom. Despite the apprentice's mixed blood and stocky build, he was, at least for now, larger. "Practice starts tomorrow at dawn. For now, head to the medicine cat den and ask for some mouse bile. You'll be learning how to take care of your elders today," Cloudychase mewed, making sure his mew was loud enough for the surrounding, more experienced warriors to hear. He himself had never enjoyed the task of searching for ticks. Any yet, he couldn't help but feel satisfied as he ordered his new apprentice to complete the task, knowing full well Wrigglepaw would despise it.

Wigglepaw's dark gaze finally landed on Cloudychase's snow-white pelt. It was easy to assume that this tom would be his mentor given the way he was padding towards him with purpose. Wigglepaw bounded up to the warrior, tail lashing with poorly hidden excitement. He was an apprentice now! That meant he got to go out and explore the territory and do what he wanted! The queens would certainly be relieved to not have to watch over him anymore.
With a wide smile on his maw, the spotted tom, dipped his head toward Cloudychase, eager to get to know the older tom. They would surely have a great bond! All apprentices and mentors were very close - or so he had heard. Would Cloudychase like him? He certainly hoped so. Paws tap-tap-tapping with excitement, Wigglepaw opened his jaws to speak, only to be cut off by the white tom's curt words.
Head tipped to the side, Wigglepaw slowly digested what Cloudychase had told him and, as he comprehended what he'd heard, his tail lowered, drooping at the underwhelming order. Mouse bile? Ticks? He had to get the ticks off of the elders? With a thinly veiled grimace, Wigglepaw nodded in agreement. He loathed the idea of dipping his paws in the nasty substance, but Cloudychase was his mentor and he wanted to make a good first impression!
All apprentices had to do little tasks like this - he knew that - but it didn't make him feel any less disappointed. Surely, the other apprentices would get to explore Thunderclan's territory first or at least leave the camp. Meanwhile, he would be stuck here with bile-filled moss and stinking paws. Then, Wigglepaw remembered the first thing Cloudychase said and brightened up a bit. He would still begin his real training tomorrow! Tick duty was nothing in the face of such excitement!
"Yes! Will not let down!" Wigglepaw allowed his smile to return and leaned forward, hoping to touch noses with Cloudychase as he had seen other newly named apprentices do. It seemed to be some sort of custom the clan cats carried out. Though, for what reason, he wasn't entirely sure.
Cloudychase's ear twitched with annoyance as the apprentice chirped up in his broken, choppy language. It was obvious that despite staying in Thunderclan since he was born, he was not a true member of the Clan. How could he be, when he spoke and acted like a wild beast? The white tom's lip curled in disgust, and he quickly snapped, "It's 'Yes, I will not let you down', not whatever nonsense you just spewed. Try to speak properly for once if you ever want to be a warrior." There, it should be stern enough.
As per tradition, Cloudychase leaned forward reluctantly to touch noses with Wigglepaw. As soon as he was done, he took a step back anf fluffed out his coat as if just touching the half-feral had dirtied his pelt.

Blazefang was horrified at her son’s behavior, and she hissed in his ear, “Hey. Knock it off. If you ever want this kid to respect you, you’ve gotta treat him like a cat, not some fox.”
