getting louder now (open)

The Gorge had been taken nearly two moons ago now, and there had been no movements by WindClan to retake it. Perchstar was confident in her Clan's abilities to fight off any intruders. However, they still had more frequent patrols along the border, just in case. This was one such patrol. It was just her and Hawkshriek, but they were both competent enough to win any small-scale invasion.

As they drew closer to the area and the distant scent of the moor filled her nose, she couldn't help but remember the last Gathering. The sudden flash of lightning. The smell of charred, burning fur. The rumbling thunder that had temporarily deafened her. Her ears still rang a little bit, sometimes. Thankfully they weren't doing so right now. But... what had become of WindClan? It did not strictly matter to her whether Shrikestar had recovered from the hit. It had been his own fault as well as that fish-brain Nightstar's, and if she had her way, she would strip the title of leader from both of them. But it did affect her Clan slightly. Perhaps if either Smallbean or Leopardsun were in charge, the threat of foolhardy war would not be quite so imminent.

There it was. The Gorge. They were currently at the shorter end of it--the one that could be jumped across with a well-placed leap. Rushing water was loud in her ears, but a single glance down would show how far away the current actually ran. Certainly not as pleasant of a border as Sunningrocks. Still, Perchstar did her duty, checking each of the scent markers and looking carefully across onto the other side. "It looks everything is still in place," she remarked to Hawkshriek, meeting his eyes by turning to look over her shoulder.
