Quickpaw watched as Nectarflower was still… still… still…, then bam! A seemingly perfect sprint towards the nearby rabbit was made from Nectarflower. She continued to watch getting more nervous as the seconds passed by, what if she failed again? What if she failed so miserably she would be forced back to kithood? Then a sudden miracle happened in the moment, her subconscious completely took over deciding that these thoughts were useless. She had gotten ready to spring up, and dart after the rabbit.
Quickpaw was letting the anticipation sink in would she fail? Or not? Only these next few seconds would tell. Then Nectarflower made the push letting the rabbit go near Quickpaw, then she stopped to be expecting of Quickpaw to take action. Then she shot up, and with a huge burst of speed she chased after the rabbit mindlessly following it until she could breathe on its neck.
Quickpaw attempted to catch a rabbit costing 3SP and Rolling…
Success!
She actually caught a rabbit, for the first time of her apprenticehood she caught a rabbit. She tried to recall the last moments again, she was right behind it. Leapt, this time a shorter distance, nailed it perfectly.

Nectarflower held her breath, waiting and watching as Quickpaw raced after the rabbit. True to her name, she seemed to be faster than the wind itself, though, that might just be because she herself was so...round at the moment. The tortoiseshell shot to her paws and cheered as the younger she-cat got a hold of the rabbit and took it down. Grinning, she sprinted over to Quickpaw, her tail high with unconcealed pride. "Very good job Quickpaw! I think you'll make a fine hunter in no time!" With a purr rumbling in her chest, Nectarflower nuzzled Quickpaw's shoulder.
Was this what Sootstorm felt when she caught her first rabbit? If so, she never wanted to stop mentoring Windclan's youth. It was almost like having a kit of her own. Though, her litter would be along shortly so she would soon know the feeling very well. Smiling, she dipped her head to sniff the rabbit appraisingly. It was a good, healthy size and had plenty of meat on its bones - perfect for the clan. Briefly, she considered hiding the prey to continue hunting, but this was good enough.
Today had gone well and Quickpaw made a clean catch - it was time to go home. With the sun beginning to set, Nectarflower rested her tail over Quickpaw's shoulder. "I think that's enough hunting for today, let's head home, yeah?" She glanced down at the rabbit, feeling pride once more at her apprentice's success. "Why don't you carry it back so everyone can see how well you've done?"
