Jays meet Whinchats(c)

Jaykit was walking around the camp looking for something to do. He hadn’t been this bored in awhile maybe we would grab the biggest bird he could find out of the fresh kill pile and ask Hazelshade for another story. He could go and talk to one of the apprentices, well that seemed interesting enough. So, he went over to the apprentices den no one was there. Well, that made sense apprentices seemed like they were busy enough. So, he went back to his walking until a few seconds later a patrol came back! As luck would have it, it seemed that an apprentice was with them! He went racing over to greet who he thought at least was an apprentice. “Hello, there!”  he had said excitedly. Eager to meet the apprentice.

Jaykit after greeting, had realized this apprentice had been dragging his leg through the dirt, had some fight happened on the patrol? Then again they were all carrying prey. He decided he would bring it up later as he liked to talk, and there were other things to talk about. The apprentice had replied asking for his name “My name is Jaykit!” He said with pride. Wasn’t his name awesome? The best of the best when it comes to names. Thinking about his own name he almost forgot to ask the apprentice for his “What's your name?” He didn’t like talking to cats who he only knows as a rank very much. So, talking while knowing his name would be more fun! The apprentice had given him his prey asking for if he was hungry or not. He had actually just become old enough to eat from the fresh kill pile. Again, boosting his confidence in the moment. “ Want to share it? ” He responded.

The apprentice had just gone hunting so he didn’t want to be rude. He could just imagine working to catch your own prey then getting back to camp, and giving it to a kit just to be nice instead of eating it yourself. Especially with that leg must be a chore to catch prey. Then again whatever battle must’ve happened out there it could have happened after they caught the prey, if it happened before then that was one strong cat he was talking to.

Jaykit watch as the apprentice had singled to sit with him. It was nice to talk to apprentices in his opinion, as he himself would become one soon. The apprentice had finally revealed his name to be… Whin-chat-paw? Sounded to him as if it had 3 parts. He had thought cats could only have 2 parts to their name. Perhaps in some weird cases a cat could have 3. He was then nudged to take the first bite. As he did that had actually been the best prey he had tasted! When he was an apprentice he would be sure to look out for robins. Then Whin-chat-paw had asked if he wanted to see a neat trick to which of course he responded. “Yeah, that would be cool!” He watched, giving his undivided attention. Would it be a cool battle move? Perhaps an expert hunting technique. Thinking of the possibilities gave him more reason to give attention.

Jaykit watched as Whin-chat-paw had unsheathed a claw, and cut the robin's back. Then he said that the feathers weren’t in the way, and how he could pick apart the bones. “Hmm… cool!” He then started to carefully play with some of the bones. Neat how it had one big back bone, and the others were smaller. He turned to Whin-chat-paw as he had a weird smile on his face. “Why are you smiling weirdly?” he had asked.

Jaykit had wondered what the weird smile was, it was like frowning, but with a smile. Whin-chat-paw had said it was nothing, so he didn’t bother thinking on it longer. He also mentioned he could call him whin. So… Whinpaw? Now that was weirder than it was with 3 parts! Almost sound like Whiningpaw which wouldn’t suit the cat in front of him that was for sure. Then he realized it was just Whin that made more sense, and it was easier to say, neat. Then Whin had changed the topic asking if he had any siblings. “I don’t have any” he replied. Then he wondered for a moment what it would be like to have siblings. “You?” He had also asked.

Jaykit had been liking talking Whin, better than most actually, most of his conversations hadn’t lasted that long. He was a bit caught of guard by Whin's question. “Well, I like talking to cats” he started. “But I don’t really know any.” Since he didn’t remember his parents he hadn’t really known any cat for awhile. Whin was the first cat he had gotten to communicate with this long, so he is the cat he knows best.

Jaykit felt a bit awkward as he realized he hadn’t really known any cats, at least he had Whin to talk to. Jaykit thought that Whin's advice was solid, despite Whin just telling him he wasn’t the best cat for this. “Well, you seem pretty good at giving advice”he sounded like he had been doing this to every cat in SkyClan or something, in his opinion. Jaykit was delighted to hear Whin want to talk to him more, and said. “Yeah, That would be great!”
