No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.
It was one thing to meet the other apprentices and other warriors, it was one thing to talk to Kit, it was one thing to see the queens in the nursery, but to know cats that were her age was another story. There were currently quite a few kits living in SkyClan's nursery, and it was easy for Thyme to feel rather... small. Between the queens that were raising their litters, the kits themselves, and the visitors that would come in to see their family, the kit would be lying if she said that all of the noise made her miss the simplicity that living with her mother had brought her. She loved the camp, she loved the tall trees and that everyone seemed to be kind, and the nests in the nursery were soft and comfortable. However, when it was just her and her mother, things hadn't been as hectic. She guessed she would have to get used to it since this was her new home.
The biggest upside that Thyme could think of to living with so many cats was learning how to talk properly. She still wasn't perfect, but her improvement was remarkable. The kit was proud of herself for her steady growth.
Today, she decided that a rather large mossball outside of the nursery would be the subject of her attention. As she rolled it around on the ground with her paws, she started to think. Large crowds were still very unappealing to her, but perhaps the company of the other kits wouldn't be too bad. She was a "Clan" cat now. She had to learn how to properly live with other people. She sucked in a breath before turning and facing the entrance of the nursery.
"Would you guys like to play a game with me?" She called inside, placing a soft paw on the mossball.

Sorrelkit had heard about the newest kit in the nursery, how she had been found in the forest — something like that. Overheard was more accurate, considering how she lingered a few moments longer than she should around older cats, playing within earshot of the queens’ gossip. Is the forest where kits came from? She couldn’t deny that she was excited to meet the newest member of their Clan and nursery. It would be a new playmate for herself and her littermates, a new friend. Maybe she would recruit her sisters to help decorate Thyme’s nest for her, or Bearkit to test the comfort out first…
Her thoughts wandered from the comfort of their own nest, stirred from them by a call from the very cat she had been considering. It was perfect!
“Wake up!” Sorrelkit commanded, wriggling away from her siblings. The kit stretched, her small paws splayed infront of her. She stood up once more and bounced towards the mouth of the nursery, sticking her head out,
“Always! What game do you want to play?” The grey kit chirped as she stared out at the other kit. It was a pleasant greenleaf morning, the sun warming her pelt as she slipped out of the nursery. Her eyes landed on the ball of moss at the other kit’s paw, quickly concluding what game they would likely play, “that looks like a big fat green mouse, where did you find that?”

Bearkit was laying peacefully in the nursery, his sisters cuddled comfortably around him. The other kits were off doing who knows what. He didnt usually care what they didn't bother him or didn't try to drag him into their games. He buried his nose further under his paws just as a voice piped up from near the entrance to the nursery.
The brown and white tom lifted his head, blue eyes narrowed as he searched for the intruding cat. His gaze landed on the she-kit a few tail lengths away. He'd never met her before, but he'd seen her around before.
Wanting to check things out, he got up shortly after Sorrelkit and shook out his fluffy coat before approaching the other kit as well. He opened his jaws, his tone severe. "Is it a safe game?" He wasn't really interested in playing, he just wanted to make sure it was a game that was safe for everyone.
Bearkit was big on safety, unlike many of the other kits in the nursery. He didnt like it when his sisters played in the heat for too long or got too close to the edge of the camp. It was probably a trait that would follow him for his whole life.
He peered over at Thyme, his expression serious. He wouldnt tolerate any dangerous nonsense. Especially with Sorrelkit involved.

Bubblekit rolled over, blinking sleep out of her eyes at her sister's call. Sorrelkit wasn't bossy like Cypresskit, but she knew when there was something fun going on. So the soft gray she-cat shook out her fur and then followed the retreating tail of Bearkit. A quick glance around where the other kits were gathering showed the new kit who'd just joined the Clan. Her name was... Tim or something? Time maybe? Bubblekit couldn't remember. It was a kinda weird name. But she wouldn't judge, as long as the other kit was nice!
She arrived just in time to hear her brother saying something solemnly about safety. Bubblekit nudged his shoulder gently as she walked up. "You worry too much, Bearbear. I'm sure it'll be fine!" Her mouth opened into a welcoming grin as she considered the other kit, showing off her tiny fangs. "I'm Bubblekit. This's my brother Bearkit and my sister Sorrelkit. What're we playing?"

Ploverkit followed her siblings slowly with a yawn, but eventually focused on the kit calling for their attention. “Hello,” she purred to them while trying to recall their name. Even though she didn’t quite know the fawn-white kitten yet, she already felt that she liked her. “I’m Ploverkit. Who are you?” she softly asked.
She giggled at her sister. “It’s moss, Sorrel.” The litter had chased around a moss ball before, although it had never been Ploverkit’s preferred choice of game. She eyed the toy before meekly suggesting her own idea. “Maybe we can use it like a Talking Stick? Someone passes it to someone else and then that kit shares something about themself.” She looked to Thyme and the others hopefully. It wasn’t often she tried to control what they played, but this time she really wanted to get to know the new kitten instead of running around in this heat. She suspected at least Bearkit would like the idea, and she'd enjoy playing with just him if the others still wanted to play something active.

Bearkit was joining them! Sorrelkit grinned as he followed her out of the nursery, glancing between the two kits before her. Almost as soon as her brother had emerged, one of her sisters appeared - Bubblekit! Her commanding had worked. If she had managed to get her brother out of his nest and her sister here within moments, what else could she possibly do…
“Only if you don’t think about the dangerous amount of fun we’re going to have!” Sorrelkit laughed, tuning into the conversation. She quickly opted to soothe her brother as she studied his stern expression, “we’ll be ok, Bear! You know the queens would stop us from doing anything too fun.”
The grey kit had forgotten in the excitement of scrambling out of the nursery to introduce herself — a role Bubblekit took up quickly, introducing the three kits that had appeared so far. As she finished their introductions Ploverkit emerged from the den, offering her name quickly.
“I know it’s not a mouse! Don’t you want to eat it though, just a little bit?” Within a moment her sister offered a game, not mossball as Sorrelkit had anticipated. She was admittedly proud of her sister, who usually acted as one of the quieter siblings, for taking control. Sorrelkit wasn’t quite convinced of the new game, but she didn’t want to dampen her sister’s spirit, “er…It’s not my game, but I don’t mind.”

Thyme hadn’t expected such a successful turnout. She smiled gently as kit after kit toppled out of the nursery, eager to engage and eager to play. She let out a breath that she wasn’t aware she had been holding. That was easy.
The first kit was Sorrelkit, a bouncing bundle of energy. The second was Bearkit, seemingly the quieter counterpart and the only tom of his litter. The third was Bubblekit, just as energetic as Sorrelkit. Ploverkit was the fourth, and Thyme was relieved that she had suggested a game so that she wouldn’t have to come up with one herself. Thyme knew that there was one more. She had seen them all in the nursery before, so she assumed that she’d be joining them soon. Ah, right, she still had to introduce herself. That was probably important.
“I’m Thyme. It’s nice to meet you!” She chirped, her smiling unwavering. Ploverkit’s game idea would probably satisfy everyone. It involved a mossball for the energetic ones, and it was probably safe enough to the point that Bearkit would be fine with it. The dynamic of these kits intrigued her. Thyme didn’t have any siblings, and she had originally never known what a sibling or a littermate was until she had arrived here. It almost made her wish that she had some sisters and brothers of her own.
“Your idea sounds great, Ploverkit! I can start. Um…” She trailed off, trying to think of something to share. Her only real “fun fact” was her origins. She supposed that would have to do for now. “…well, I come from somewhere very far away from here, but I’m happy to be here now.” She flicked the mossball over to Bubblekit. Perhaps their stories would teach her more about being born into Clan life.

“Hol’ up!” A voice called from the nursery as Cypresskit, finally released from what felt like an eternity of sitting in the corner and thinking about what she’d done (and snickering about it, mostly, was it really her fault some cats didn’t check their nests for thorns and fire ants?) bolted out into camp, eyes locked on where her siblings were fraternizing with some other cat! Good gosh! “Ello, I’m Cypresskit! Who are you, Newkit?”
The pointed molly skidded to a stop next to her siblings, grinning widely. Part of her really really wanted to intercept the mossball being passed to Bubble, but she was already too late for that. Shame. “What sorta place far far away? Thun’erClan? That’s real far, ain’t it?”
She hadn’t caught any of the earlier conversation due to still being lectured, but she’d seen her siblings, and they seemed happy, so she guessed she wouldn’t try to bowl over the new cat just yet.

Bubblekit nodded at Ploverkit as her sister approached. "Good idea! Sounds fun." She wasn't good enough at coming up with ideas herself, but she loved participating in them. The new kit introduced herself as Thyme--surely that was short for Thymekit, right? Maybe she was just being super informal. Well, that was okay! It would be weird to have a kit whose name didn't have -kit in it, so surely that couldn't be right. Oh, and she said she was from "far away." What did that mean? Far away, like the sky? Like the trees? Or just like ThunderClan or RiverClan?
The small gray she-kit eagerly accepted the mossball as it came to her, but before she could say anything, Cypresskit showed up. A mix of affection and annoyance warred within Bubblekit as her sister joined them. Well, at least they were all here now, so she couldn't complain about being left out. "Anyway. Um, all my siblings know this already, but I love asking questions! I wanna know everything about everything. But if I'm bothering you then you can always say to stop. I know it can get annoying." With that, she batted the mossball over to Bearkit, who she was standing closest to. "Your turn, Bearbear!" She was curious about where Thymekit was from, but didn't want to break the rules of the game by asking too much.

Bearkit glanced sideways at Sorrelkit, uncertain. Maybe the queens would, but who would take care of his sisters when they were busy? He had to step in, especially since their mother was still recovering in the medicine cat's den. He'd honestly expected her to have gotten better by now - all of the other queens seemed fine.
Regardless, Ploverkit's idea didnt sound half bad and it definitely seemed safe enough. They weren't even going to have to move around or tussle in the oppressive green leaf heat, so it was a win to him. He watched from the side as the game commenced, listening with perked ears to what each kit had to say.
He wanted to learn more about the new kit, but an interrogation like that would have to wait for a little bit. Perhaps when his sisters weren't around. At least the rumor about her being from outside of Skyclan were now confirmed to be true.
The Tom-kit's attention was drawn away as Cyppresskit as she thundered into the game, probably late because of some silly prank she'd pulled again. He smiled at her, then turned to Bubblekit as she announced a fact about her. Then, before he knew it, the ball was rolling toward him. He slapped a paw over it to stop it from rolling away, his expression a mixture of emotions.
He hadn't agreed to play, but the mossball was in his paws and everyone was looking at him expectantly. What should he say? There wasn't really anything interesting about him. Finally, after a long pause, he sighed. "I think birds taste the best."
Nothing particularly interesting, but it was probably something not many of them had figured out yet. Happy to be done, Bearkit made eye contact with Ploverkit, who hadn't had a turn yet. "You go " He released the mossball and swatted it toward her.

Everyone seemed satisfied with her suggestion, to which she was very pleased. So often her litter was split by the activity they wanted to play. “Hi Cy,” she purred briefly. She let Thyme answer Cypresskit’s questions, quietly and intently listening.
It was Bubblekit’s turn. It was true, she did already know she loved asking questions. That’s what Ploverkit loved about the she-kit, along with her endless ideas. The mossball was passed to their brother. She smiled to him encouragingly. Maybe this wasn’t exactly the game for him. But she appreciated him playing along, and silently promised to do something with him later. The mossball met her paws, which she lightly tugged at. “I quite like moss,” she said, not giving much thought to her fun fact. “Uhm, and I like when we all get along.” Truth was, she didn’t really know much about herself other than what others told her. Ploverkit almost forgot to pass the ball to Sorrelkit.
