Cedarstalk's tensed muscles relaxed as the sound of Copperlark's laugh echoed through the small clearing. He lifted his head, stunned yet relieved to see her not only amused, but understanding of his outburst. It wasn't often that he stumbled over his words like that, but when he did, it was absolutely mortifying!

The red and white tom cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to recover in the most graceful way possible. Luckily, she didn't seem to mind his bumbling words. In fact, it only seemed to endear himself to her even more.

Finally, after what felt like seasons, she spoke. Those words - 'I would love to be mates with you' - made Cedarstalk's eyes light up. He pressed himself closer to Copperlark with an enthusiastic purr. "Of course! Yes!" He rubbed his muzzle against hers for a moment, all distress and concern melting away like snow in the sun.

Copperlark really loved him! It was sch a foreign concept to the young warrior, yet he felt that his heart just might burst out of his chest with how light and happy he was. After so many moons of struggling and wondering why he wasn't good enough to stick around for, everything was falling into place.
