The day was warm, sunlight dappling the grassy clearing below as Wolfblossom sat on the tallbranch that overlooked Skyclan's camp. Another apprentice was to be made today, the second of the kits Dawnfeather had found.
"Let all cats old enough to climb a tree gather beneath the tallbranch for a clan meeting!" Her voice rang across camp, and the deputy waited for her clanmates to gather.
Violetpaw's apprentice ceremony had hardly ended, it seemed, before another ceremony was called. Alderkit poked his head out from the entrance to the nursery, green eyes widening. It had to be his turn now, there was no doubt about it. With a swagger suited for a cat much bigger than him, he padded over to the Tallbranch and sat in the front, looking smug.
"Alderkit, step forward," Wolfblossom smiled down at the kit as he made his way from the nursery. "You have reached the age of six moons old, and it is time for you to become an apprentice of Skyclan. From now until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Alderpaw. Your mentor will be Astershine." Astershine was a good cat, level-headed and down to earth. Wolfblossom had no doubt that he would teach Alderpaw their ways with ease.
