Caught in the Middle

Swiftheart looked over the mostly empty clearing of camp as the moonlight shown down. She spotted her brother Echomist leaving a little while later. She hesitated for a little but slowly followed after him.

She knew he was hurting alot, and she wanted to be there for him in some way. Whenever she hit rock bottom, she needed lots of support, hugs and reassurance and people to talk to. But Echomist was not like her, he was way more quiet.

She understood that Echomist was not one to easily open up or share his feelings, unlike herself. Aware of his reserved nature, she decided that actions would speak louder than words maybe. She figured maybe the best way to try and support him was to not talk too much, just maybe being by his side would show him everything she wished to say. Which was, that she understood his pain and wanted him to know that she was there for him. They were family and she just wanted the family she had left to stand together. She understood his anger at Night and had no idea how to approach that. Maybe best was not to approach it at all. She just hoped that they could eventually stand together again as one even if that took a bit of time. She felt like she was getting pulled in two directions from her younger and older brother and hoped that would not worsen. She had no idea what she would have done if Night actually banished Echo... but she knew it would not have been pretty.


As she caught up to him she slowly went to his side. She softly bit at her own tongue trying to remind herself not to chat his ears off like the talkative she-cat might usually have done, this was about him not her.

Brushing a little against his pelt as she sat down next to him she glanced over to him.

"hey you"

Echomist had take the chance he had gotten to step out of camp, to step away from the familiar place he saw his kits grow up in, to look away from where he knew his terrible brother was resting and the fact that his mate was residing there as well. As much as he felt guilty over the harsh words he spoke to Leopardsun he also knew he believed what he had said. His words weren't just his emotions getting the better of him. An extreme amount built up over time until he couldn't hold it in anymore.

He knew for a fact he couldn't trust Nightstar anymore.. even after coming to the tom's defense for his screw up.. but now his screw up became much more than that. It became something that cost lives.. That split the clan apart. It would be one thing if Windclan attacked them directly over some false pretenses but this wasn't that. This was trying to defend the honor of a tom that didn't have any, or didn't want it. It wasn't worth it. Not in the slightest.

The spotted tom sat, a heavy sigh escaping his maw. Ears perked up as he heard footsteps behind him. Part of him couldn't help but wonder if it was Nightstar coming to kill him or exile him. He didn't want either to happen but he wouldn't be surprised either if they did. Echomist relaxed a little when the familiar scent of Swiftheart washed over his nose as she pressed into his side, a small greeting leaving her lips.

Green eyes looked over at his sister, posing the silent question of why she had followed him out here? Not really bothering to use his words at the moment.
