A price no one should have to pay[C]

Valley's head was everywhere as he mulled over his decision once more. Did he really want to stay in this place? The land was beautiful, sure, but those clan cats had taken just about everything, leaving the loners and rouges to try and make do with Human trash and crow-food. The tom was not paying attetion as he walked, resulting in him crossing a border for the fifth time since he arrived at the forest.

Amberpaw had gotten separated from his hunting party - he had been chasing a particularly plump vole that would have made a fine addition to the freshkill pile. However, his chase had been in vain, for the creature had disappeared into a hole. No problem. I'll just make my way back to camp...better that than wondering around the territory on my own. But wait, what was that scent?

Amberpaw lifted his nose to get a better whiff. Its a cat! That's no Thunderclan cat. Or a clan cat. His eyes narrowed as he dropped to the crouching position Briarrose had taught him. He silently stalked through the forest - a fluffy orange cloud floating soundlessly above the earth. Amberpaw stayed downwind, hoping to remain undetected. The tom came up behind a large bush and, concealed behind it, observed the stranger. The other tom clearly did not belong on Thunderclan's territory. What to do? Amberpaw could try to find the patrol and have a warrior chase the trespasser away, but...Amberpaw was already here, and this cat needed to learn to leave Thunderclan alone. I have to protect the clan, Amberpaw thought. I can take him, easy. I am training to be a warrior, after all. Its time I act like one. Perhaps this thought was a bit naïve. Remembering the battle training he had received, Amberpaw mustered his courage and, before he could talk himself out of it, exploded from his hiding spot with claws unsheathed.

Valley hissed as claws ripped the fur off his shoulder. He spun around to face a red-furred tom, who looked no older than eight months. He crossed that border again, didn't he? The clans really did teach their kits to attack on sight... growling, Valley smacked the tom with a paw, then slammed another paw into the cat's side. Time for the kit to learn when to back down.

Amberpaw stumbled backward as stinging pain erupted across his body. He felt a tickle of liquid dribbling down his side as warm, red blood clotted into his long ginger fur. Two strong blows from the loner, and Amberpaw already felt weak. The apprentice's most vulnerable spots had been targeted, and he felt their effects. I won't let this mouse brain beat me that easily, the tom thought with a menacing growl. "You stay away from Thunderclan!" Even as he spoke, Amberpaw snapped at the stranger with his sharp teeth, briefly sinking his jaws into the tom's flesh as he threw him to the ground. Then, he slammed his paws onto his opponent's head, putting the full weight of his body behind the blow - a move Briarrose had taught him. 

Amberpaw used Snap, dealing 6dmg and -7sp. Amberpaw used Thunderous Stomp, dealing 1dmg and -10sp.
Total: 7dmg and -17sp.

Valley growled as the over-sized ginger kit fought back. His paw shooted out to smack the cat on the head, pushing it face-first into the dirt for good measure. "Listen here, kit. The next time you find a rouge or loner in your territory, consider the fact that not everyone realizes those stink fumes around the area is a border, okay?" He growled into the tabby's ear, then released his hold over the ginger tom's head.

The stranger's words echoed in the distance as Amberpaw's vision grew spotty. He tried to speak, to retaliate, to say something in defense, but he had already slipped too far into unconsciousness. The naïve apprentice's body went lip as he fainted from his wounds on the forest floor.
