a new day begins [o]

Violetkit was still learning about her new home - how much colder it was in the night, how many cats there were around all the time (before now, she didn't know there were this many cats in the world), and how everyone was always so busy. There was a constant shuffle and murmur of movement, one that she was yet to really be a part of. According to Dawnfeather, however, she was almost old enough to be an apprentice, which meant she would join the constant hustle and bustle of camp.

Sometimes she missed the simplicity of her early kit years, the ones from before the road-box that were mere flashes and faint feelings. She knew she missed her mother, but also knew that it wouldn't be the same without Alderkit right beside her. Even when everything was changing, he was always there.

The kit tried her best to stay out of the way of the busy warriors and energetic apprentices, in a little corner of camp near the nursery, where she could watch everything happen.

Some queens complained about having to take care of young kits, but Dawnfeather would never tire of their wonder and curiosity, the way they loved the world around them just like she did. Violetkit and Alderkit (names they fit so perfectly, just like their older siblings of Foxtrot and Smokepetal) were growing more acclimated to SkyClan by the day, and that? Was a good thing.

The golden she-cat stretched, subtly following the younglings out of the nursery. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust them- it was that she wanted them to know she’d always be there if they needed her. Her ears pricked, listening idly to their conversation while she started to groom herself in the sunlight a fox-length away.

It had been some time since Dawnfeather had found a pair of kits abandoned on the thunderpath, and Wolfblossom, after assigning patrols, headed toward the nursery. Dawnfeather sat a short distance from them, and the deputy smiled, purring a greeting to her cousin. "Morning Dawnfeather, how are you?"

"Hi Alderkit, Violetkit," Bright blue eyes turned toward the kits, "Seems exciting, doesn't it?" Her ears had caught Alderkit's question, and she was curious to hear what they had to say. Of course, they each had a ways to go from becoming warriors, but apprentice training would prepare them for it.

Violetkit practically jumped out her pelt when Alderkit snuck up behind her, and, laughing, turned around to gently swat him across the muzzle with her forepaw. "Just everything kind of, the warriors never stop moving, it's kind of exciting." Her pale blue gaze returned to the activities of camp as she listened to her brother. However, she didn't have time to reply before the pair had more company. As the deputy joined them, Violetkit sat up a little straighter, becoming slightly more aware like she always did when there were adults around. When it was just her and Alderkit, the she-kit relaxed entirely, but something about older cats (especially those in authority) made her constantly consider her words and actions, always treading carefully. Dawnfeather had told her before not to worry, but Violetkit had tried, and subsequently failed, to stop her endless habit.

"I feel like all the work would all be worth it, you know? Like getting to do all that cool stuff and help everyone. Oh, and see all the territory as well. And climb trees!" Violetkit listed each thing she could think of that would be great about being a warrior, hoping that Wolfblossom was listening. In all honesty, although all these things did interest Violetkit, she wouldn't exactly say she was dying to do them. She didn't really know how she felt about any of it, but was happy at the chance to try. "What about you? I imagine you'll have great fun as a warrior."
