Peace before the storm [Open hunting patrol]

It was Ferntwist's first time as patrol leader. The white and grey she-cat walked with her chin up and with a straight posture, not letting anyone look down on her because of her size. The young warrior led the small patrol through the moors until she found a small tree stump. She leapt on top of it and mewed: "This is our meeting point. We shall hunt until the sun is high. If you need help, yowl and we shall all meet here." With no further delay, the molly lashed her tail as a sign of dismissing the meeting and jumped off the stump.

The small she-cat walked away from the group and started tracking the scent of a hare. She followed it keeping her body low and once her eyes saw the animal across a small plain without the tall grass, she prepared herself to run. She "massaged" the ground in anticipation and she suddenly leapt out of the tall grass, surprising the animal. The hare was about to turn and run, but the slender was swifter. Ferntwist slammed the weight of her whole body against the hare as she closed her front legs around its body. Just as the hare started kicking, the warrior closed its jaws around the front part of its neck, causing it to slowly lose all its strength.

Ferntwist attempted to catch a Hare (-3 SP). The catch was successful!

Eaglefly followed the newer warrior along.  He was pretty confident and usually in good mood.  The tom nodded silently at her instructions not saying much to keep from scaring off the prey.



When the patrol was leaving, Batsong noticed them heading out and left shortly after to catch up.  Yes, she was med cat but before that she was a full warrior and had been on many hunts before.  Besides, some time out on the moorlands might do her some good she figured.  Better than being in camp having everyone mad at her it felt like.  She had done what she thought was right but it had not gone at all like she had wanted it too.  She fell in silently into the patrol and also nodded without a word to Ferntwists words

She had no idea how Ferntwist or Eaglefly felt about her but she just wanted to focus on the hunt for now.  Tomorrow's problems would be for tomorrow to deal with.

(OOC:  I will roll 2 hunting dice.  The first one will be eagles roll the second will be batsongs roll)


Eaglefly quickly spotted a rabbit and ran it down easily. He purred very happy that had worked. He thought about how his mentor Flutterpetal had taught him that. Maybe he could share this with Flutterpetal when he got back home.


Batsong had not been hunting in awhile, so when she saw a rabbit nearby she was unsure if she could catch it but wanted to try her best anyways. She darted at it and caught it just before it could have gotten away. Purring she brought it back to where the patrol was gonna meet back up

Ferntwist returned to the stump with her catch and quickly made a hole to bury it. She was about to proceed with her hunting, but her gaze caught the dark-pelt figure of the medicine cat. The young warrior opted instead to go to her and on her way catch something. She wanted to speak with her...

A pigeon which she has not noticed suddenly flew in front of her, startled by her presence. Ferntwist tried to catch mid-air, but her reaction was too slow. Her front claws landed on the ground instead of the animal as it flew away from the she-cat's reach. The molly shrugged her shoulders, not really too torn up with her failed attempt. A bird was way smaller than a hare.

"Hey, Batsong, can we talk?" The white-and-grey she-cat mewed from Batsong's behind.

Ferntwist attempted to catch a pigeon (-3 SP). The catch failed!

Batsong dropped her catch off and was about to head out again when she turned hearing her clanmate.  

Sure ferntwist.  I am always open to talk to my clanmates

Batsong felt a level of anxiety that she did her best to ignore.  She had been criticized and mocked a lot for how she had handled the gathering.  Was this going to be more of that?  She supposed that was fair enough.  She had done what she had thought was right at the time but many were pointing out that this had been a bad idea.

Still, she was tired of shadowclan beating up her friends and nearly killing them.  Amber and russet both had almost died from nightstar and she was done laying down and just taking it.  Was what she did at the gathering wrong? Maybe, maybe not.  One thing was for certain though.  She had finally grown a backbone and stood up for herself and her clan. The hesitant batsong that once was.  Was now much more confident and willing to fight for her clans rights.

Eagle fly came back with his catch but seeing that fern and bat were talking he stayed a ways away letting them have their privacy. He kept busy looking for more food or keeping an eye out for any danger nearby
