Cloudypaw padded through the territory, ducking beneath under every scrap of shade there was. And the reason for doing so was revealed as soon as he accidentall stepped into a ray of light. The rays of the sun bounced right of his snow-white fur, which resulted in a scampering of tiny paws as a mouse ran away as quickly as it could. The tom sprang after the mouse, blue eyes locked on the small figure. A large, fluffy cloud bursted out of the ferns, which only served to scare away any birds resting in the nearby trees. The mouse slipped under a bramble bush and disappeared as quick as light. Cloudypaw skidded to a stop, his thick tail lashing back and forth. "Mouse dung!" He spat, glaring furiously at the spot where the mouse had escaped with.

Murkyripple

“I welcome the shadows like a long-lost friend.”

Murkyripple had opted to follow along with the apprentice that had seemed keen on enjoying a morning hunt. Their white pelt considered, she had to give credit to how the young tom used it to the best of his ability, even with the forest floor where he otherwise stuck out every season save for leafbare. Her studying gaze seemed to follow as a prey just hardly escaped the apprentice's grasp, a tiny breath of air leaving the molly in place of a gentle chuckle as they exclaimed their distaste for it all. The warrior moved forward, touching her feathered tail to the back of the apprentice in consolidation. She didn't have much to say, but her actions spoke her support.

It was her turn to hunt, though, and the molly found herself particularly attracted to the sound of chittering near one of the trees. Her movements had her shifting from shadow to shadow, gliding forward on silent, experienced paws. It was only with practice that she had come to hone her skills in such a way. The chittering gave way to a particularly plump squirrel, one who hadn't even seen the molly by the time its life was taken in a swift movement of claws and teeth. She picked up her catch, finding a place to bury it. The roots of a tree, gnarled, made a particularly good cage to hold the creature in. "Any catches, hide them here." Her voice called out to no cat in particular, wanting to ensure her hunting party knew where their prey would be safe.

thrushnose

With his sister and apprentice tagging along the hunt, Thrushnose had no reason to decline to participate along with them. If not to observe how well his apprentice had grown since their last training session, then to at least spend some quality time with Murkyripple, checking in on the both of them out of genuine friendliness. The forest of New-leaf was abundant with fresh prey; one of the reasons that he enjoyed the season so much, other than the plain fact of the renewal of bustling energy that has grown in the woodlands of Thunderclan. His pelt matched the one that dappled earth brown, sparkling in various shades of golden under sunlight. It made a natural advantage to the lean tom who had already set sight on the shadow of a pair of fluttering wings.

Silently, he crept toward the thrush, its chest mottled with dots easily mistaken for one of a sparrow's, if not for its smaller frame. Sharp, swift claws brang themselves down on the unsuspecting prey as he lunged into its neck, gathering it promptly between his jaws before it could've flown away. The tom brang his catch back to the pit of the gnarled oak tree which Murkyripple has found, whiskers twitching as his sharp pupils scanned the woodland for the target of his next hunt.

Thrushnose attempted to catch Bird for 3 SP. It was a success!

Copperlark trailed behind Cloudypaw, her tail wrapped tightly around her hindlegs. She shared the similar troubles as her brother; no matter how long she trained in the forest, she was always tripping over roots hidden by ferns or stepping on loud leaves. How was she supposed to tell which leaf would crunch and which leaf would soften her pawsteps instead? They all looked the same! The she-cat didn't say anything when Cloudypaw failed, instead leaving the rest of her patrolmates to console him.

Finally, after much searching, she was able to pick up the faint scent of mouse underneath all that undergrowth. She may not be the best hunter in the forest, but she still earned her warrior name... which wasn't enough. Her paws landed on flat earth, flattening the fern fronds around her but not a single mouse appeared. Her pelt flushed with shame. How embarrassing! Copperlark's ears flattened against her head and disappeared into the undergrowth. If nothing else, at least they provided shelter for when she had to flee.
