Murkyripple

“I welcome the shadows like a long-lost friend.”

She didn't often find herself awake during sunhigh, but once and awhile, she still did. It was a very, very rare occasion, but that was just how life went. Once and awhile, she was needed on some sort of sunhigh patrol, and she didn't have it in her to complain about wanting sleep. It always was good to bond with her clanmates anyways, even if the most frequent way that she did was taking a nap in the warrior's den at the same time as another one.

Turning to Acornstem, the molly did her best to give a slight smile. She didn't want to look her usual menacing shadow. After all, the company she found herself with was always so kind. "Let's hunt at the stony hollow. It should be safer now that it's newleaf." While her words were still rather straight-to-the point, they weren't as harsh as they tended to be. It truly took a fair amount of effort from the warrior to be more approachable, but she just told herself it would pay off in the end. It did no good to make enemies among those she was supposed to trust with her life, after all.

Acornstem could barely hide her excitement to get the chance to go hunting with Murkyripple! Having bonded with Firefly through sparring of all things, she was more than eager to get on better terms with her friend's siblings. Well, she knew Briarrose rather well but Murkyripple was one of Firefly's littermates and the only one to have also gained their warrior name. That made it special! "Of course, stony hollow sounds great!" she chirped - taking no offense to the blunt words. Even if this was her first time getting to know the she-cat, she had never really been put off by Murkyripple's intense aura - after all Acornstem had found a way to bond with Firefly! All she had to do was learn more about Murkyripple, find out what she liked to do and see if they could bond with that! Hunting was a good start, thought.

She had faith that in the end, she would win Murkyripple over into friendship. Not wanting to waste any more time when there was prey to get, she started the trek towards the stony hollow, mouth parted to keep aware of any scents to catch her attention. As they drew close, a flicker of movement caught her eye on one of the nearby rocks - a lizard nearly blending in. It was far from her favorite type of prey, far more chewy but prey was prey - somebody would enjoy it. She flickered her tail to catch Murkyripple's attention, mutely pointing out the lizard before she dropped into a crouch and started her approach.

The lizard was blissfully unaware of her presence as she drew ever closer, before she judged herself close enough to make the leap. Shaking her rump to fix her footing, she pushed off of the ground and landed smoothly, pinning and finishing off the lizard with nary a sound. Picking it up in her jaws, she turned to look at Murkyripple with a proud purr as she held the prey high as she trotted back.

Acornstem attempted to catch a lizard and succeeded, costing 3 stamina.

It was a rather nice change of pace to also see how Acornstem didn't fight her on her demeanor. Often, it felt like she was having to near-apologize for the way she simply acted. However, with that a non-issue in this circumstance, the molly felt herself relaxing somewhat significantly.

"Nice catch~" The molly complimented as she watched the other warrior seem to almost seamlessly catch the lizard, the uncommon treat earning a nod of respect from the tortoiseshell. They certainly weren't her favorite piece of prey, but they were unique enough she found she could appreciate their taste on the rare time she craved them.

Murkyripple's own turn to find something was next. Her maw parted, searching visually in the crevices all the while before she found her prey. It seemed 'uncommon' was the style of catch for the day, and she quickly dropped into her own hunter's crouch as she spotted it. A hare, in a rather odd spot. They usually stuck to the grasses and lands not of stone, but she wasn't about to complain.

The terrain aided her, and in one easy swoop, the rabbit was soon to hang from her jaws. Approaching Acornstem, she gestured with her head to a spot they could keep their prey. Just beneath a rock, shielded from any vultures or crows that would attempt to steal their hard work. She didn't want to speak, given how it was rather hard to talk around a mouth full of hare fluff. But, at least in her mind, she got the point across well enough.

Acornstem let out another content purr as Murkyripple praised her catch, coming to a stop as the warrior started to scan for a catch of her own before spotting the hare at roughly the same moment. Oh! She wasn't sure if she had ever had a rabbit or hare or...Well, she wasn't sure what the difference truly was - she was just pretty sure there was one. She didn't move a whisker as Murkyripple moved to approach the hare and before she knew it, the warrior was victorious in her catch. "That was amazing!" she chirped past her lizard, eyes wide in awe. As Murkyripple motioned silently towards a rock, she frowned softly as she tried to figure out why until she saw the gap beneath it....Thought even then it took her a few extra heartbeats to put it together! Oh! She quickly hurried over to dispose of her prey in the safe hiding spot, giving Murkyripple a soft smile. "You sure a good at this, catching the hare like that and spotting this opening! I should go hunting with you more often," she added with a small chuckle as she dropped her lizard onto the ground, pushing it safely underneath the rock.
